Oh you didn't have surgery yet? Well good luck to you! That's good u have ur brother to guide u along the way. Sounds like he's been very successful.

I've done a lot of research on the surgery and have watched this surgery change my brothers life. He is literally HALF THE MAN he used to be. I'm so happy for him as he gets excited to try on cloths and girls looking at him.

I'm puzzled by your concern...I've experienced only 1 stuck episode' date=' and it was my fault. It would not require several stuck episodes for me to understand the limitations of my current level of restriction.

If you are having to "constantly find the bathroom I believe you would benefit from being more observant regarding your eating patterns. It should not require an entire learning process for every fill.

Another possibility is that your band is too tight. I would be discussing this with my surgeon ASAP.[/quote']

I don't feel Sojo was being judgemental. She was trying to make OP understand that you should not be vomiting or PBing if you are eating correctly ,unless their band was too tight. If the band is tight she needs to see her surgeon ASAP. She was trying to avoid OP having severe complications.

My nutritionist has said there is a problem if vomiting & PBing are a regular thing. You should not do that!

Yeah I feel really sad for her. It could be any of us. Imagine how devastating it must be to get ur hopes up and have it all come crashing down. Good for her that she found another route for weight loss. I just wish she'd answer some questions as far as any interventions she might have had. I think people could really benefit by finding out why it didn't work for her

I am not being "judgmental"...but I do stay grounded in reality. There is a time to teach, a time to learn, and a time to face the reality that you are placing yourself at risk for serious complications.

If you feel that my sharing the realities of those risks is to be "judgmental", that's only your opinion and I don't agree with it. Perhaps you could share what you believe to be the proper way to alert another that they are at risk for serious complications if they don't learn how to understand the limitations with their band, learn how to work with their band and use it as it was designed to be used.

I don't believe to "sugar coat" information helps the individual who needs to learn...as a realist I tell it like it is. My profession requires/required it.

If you believe I'm being judgmental, I would say that you are clueless about how to interpret my written words...and thus you are being "judgmental".

IMHO...your mileage does vary...best wishes and hoping you have a successful weight loss journey.

I'm tempted for my 'once in a life time' holiday to Orlando in may 2013. I wont but If i wasn't worried about getting filled back up to a good restriction Id definitely be tempted even more do it! Being excited about going in holiday and wanting to relax and enjoy eating out regularly doesn't show that your whole, general attitude to food hasn't changed; it shows that you want to go on holiday and enjoy eating as part of that! No matter how much my life changes with weight loss there is no way ill ever not be a little bit sad I can't stuff my face on holiday! Fortunately I haven't been on a holiday for 5 years and probably won't go again for another 5 after this one! Part of going on holiday for most people is about eating and drinking in different places.

If I was tempted to do it for a party or wedding I'd be cross with myself but you have to admit your feelings to yourself before you can begin to deal with them. It would be a pretty expensive party for me if I did it as my fills will be £100!

As a newbie and not knowing anyone some of the comments read as very judgemental and abrupt. I nearly left thinking this was a bug much for me and i hadnt even written my First post! There's tough love and there's the need to think about what you type a little bit. If it sounds firm when you type it, it'll sound 100x worse when someone else reads it without knowing your understanding/helpfulness etc behind your message.

Encouragement is very nice, but it goes against common sense to encourage someone to do something that we know is foolish or harmful. And often something that we "hear" as being judgmental is actually good advice that we just don't like hearing. My parents, teachers, doctors, bosses, priests, friends, and others have often given me advice that I hated but which proved to be valuable.

I've experienced the same. I had my band emptied in August for an emergency surgery (not band related). I've had it slowly added back in since then. Last Tuesday I had the last bit readded to put me where I was before surgery- and was way too tight. I ended up back in 3 days later for a slight unfill. So now I'm less than I was before surgery and mostly in the Green Zone again, but still not like I was before I had the band unfilled for surgery. It seems when you get it unfilled it doesn't refill quite the same way it was. Just my experience.

That's one of the reasons am afraid to get unfill.

I feel pretty good right now but I think I might have stretched my pouch and the only way to get the pouch back to normal size would be emptying it and adding restriction little by little but im afraid I would never find that "sweet spot" ever again.

Actually, there is a way you can help shrink your pouch without emptying the band. It's not guaranteed to work but it's definitely worth a try. Have you tried the 5 day pouch test? http://5daypouchtest.com/plan/theplan.html

It's extremely unlike that the 5 day pouch test can shrink a stretched stomach pouch. It was developed by a gastric bypass patient who is not a medical professional. Its main benefit is that following such a strict Protein food plan for 5 days can break the cycle of carb craving.

My (unscientific) theory is that 5 days of that diet can make you think your pouch has shrunk because once you stop the carb cravings (which are insatiable), you're better able to judge your satiety, stop eating sooner, and stay satisfied longer.

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
