No Fill Yet

Recommended Posts

I have been banded since May 7, 2012, and have not had to have a fill yet. I have lost a total of 45 lbs and am feeling great. I went back to the surgeon 2 weeks ago, who informed me that I may never need a fill. not showing signs of hunger. I walk 3-4 times a week for 30-40 minutes and I have a ski machine that I do 2 times a week for 30-40 min. I keep a food journal faithfully and I check the labels of everything that I eat. I am so proud of my self, I know that without the band I would not have been able to do this. Good luck to my Bandster family. We can do it!

I'm proud of you too! Great job!

I know a lady who lost 100 lbs with no fill, after the 100 she finally did. Hoping I'll be like you. Not excited about trying to find green zone.

I'm not sure why people have such a problem with having to have a fill. It almost seems to be like some kind of badge of honour if someone can lose without it. The band is designed to work with Fluid in, normally getting a fill is quick and easy so having to have 1 is not a problem.

If you lose without 1 great but if you need fills it should not be viewed as some kind of failure, that is a normal part of the process.

I don't mind having fills, but wouldn't it be nice not to get 3cc here, take out 2, add .03

I guess what I'm saying is I'd rather not make a dozen 30min drives. Traffic here sucks!!! But the fill doesn't worry me at all.

Road rage does!!! Recently had my beloved 99 Cobra totalled by some old guy that couldn't see fire engine red coming.lol

I was banded 8/13/12, have lost 32 lbs without a fill, and yet got my first fill yesterday. My issue, historically, hasn't been taking it off, it has been keeping it off. I'm hoping with everything working together I'll change my eating habits so that if I ever need my band removed or emptied that I will be in a place where it won't make any difference. Right now I am so obsessed with losing the weight that I am not eating a diet that would satisfy me for the rest of my life. I want to eat 'regular', but band ok, food. Now I'm living on yogurt, cottage cheese, and eggs simply because I feel confident that I can control what I eat, how much I eat, and still lose weight. I want to be able to be satisfied with regular food, but in smaller more appropriate serving sizes. I am definately a work in progress.

To those who feel that I have offended them an anyway because they have fills done, I apologize that was not my intent. But I am proud of myself because of it. I may one day need a fill if I do I will have it without a problem. There is no failure if you have a fill or not. the only failure is having the band and not making the most of it, I eat what I want, I just know when to stop, when I am full. The band is designed to teach us how to eat, if we didn't need help with that then none of us would be banded. My success was posted to encourage bandsters, not to make them feel like a failure. Fill or no fill, we are all here on this journey together.

I think you're success is awesome. Please don't apologize or let anyone take your shine. You posted about your success without a fill & there is nothing wrong with that at all. You don't need any negative comments. You are awesome

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
