What Is Plication

Recommended Posts

Plication makes the other half of ur stomach smaller so with the band and a smaller stomach it is suppose to make u loose 20% more weight. I had them both done on August 23 I've lost 27 lbs. to me it was like a bonus. It doesn't add pain or longer recovery worth it to me so far

Also the plication is suppose to help reduce the band from slipping.

Hi I am new to this site. I have Tricare and trying to get approval. My BMI qualifies but no comirbilities. My family is full of diabetes and my dad died at 45 from it. I prepared an appeal letter showing how my blood sugars are trending up with my weight. I also have been diagnosed with fatty liver. I am considering a sleep study. Any advise would be appreciated. My email address is bmxmomla@aol.com

Thanks everyone!!!! I like the doctor I saw and he charges $750 extra for plication. Is it worth it

Thank u all So much

I also have tricare, they approved my band on the first submission and my bmi was exsctly 40. If your Bmi is less, tricare requires a co morbidity

I also have tricare, they approved my band on the first submission and my bmi was exactly 40. I don't believe they approve plication or a sleeve. If your Bmi is less than 40, tricare requires a co morbidity

I also had plication with the band, I've lost 65 lbs since June 13, 2012 with no fills, my dr says that my band is for back up plus it helps the band from slipping, she doesn't recommend doing band alone, I'm glad I had the plication!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
