I'm three months post and am still having abdominal pain/discomfort almost constantly. Its a feeling somewhere between "gut rot" and extreme gas. At first I was told it was stomach acid, but I've been on two different meds and I still feel awful. I saw my surgeon who claims it has nothing to do with the surgery. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Get a second opinion. Do you drink carbonation drinks? The can do it too. But go get checked before something little turns into something big.

Where exactly is your pain?

The pain is the area around my belly button in general... so mid abdomen. :(

I'm 4 month post op and have no pain at all, just mild discomfort from time to time if I overeat. I think you should see someone else and get a 2nd opinion.

Good Luck

This is not a fun question :), but are you regular? Could it be that kind of problem? Bandsters don't do this as often since we have a hard time getting our veggies, Fiber, and eat less food. I know I don't feel good when I'm not, so I keep up on taking a probiotic and this helps a lot. Some on here take regular stool softeners or fiber supplements, but I'm not getting into that setup, never worked too good for me in the past, not doing it now.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
