Recommended Posts

I just had my last nutrition appointment today, which means ill be getting set up for my pre-op appointment with my surgeon. I'm now terrified! Everyone that was in my nutrition appointment was totally against getting the lap band. And now I'm confused...I want to make sure I'm making the right decision. Help please!!!

I go in for my pre op appointment on Friday and am scheduled for surgery the first weekend in October. Although I've been through a 6 month waiting period to see if I would be approved, I'd be lying if I said I didn't have second thoughts. After thinking it over, I feel like this procedure is necessary so I may live a healthy, long life. If I could have lost weight on my own, it would have already happened. Do you mind me asking what they were saying negatively about it?

I am about to finish up with my 6 months. It looks like surgery will be some time in November. Now that it is close, I am having second thoughts and getting scared. It seems like all of a sudden all I am hearing is negative. I totally understand how you feel!

I was nervous too because it seems so drastic a step to take, but I think everyone gets scared. But for me I just reminded myself that the benefits would outweigh the risks. I don't kno about you but I have diabetes, neuropathy, hypertension, anemia, etc and I needed to get them under control. Clearly my previous attempts at dieting went nowhere, ans I'm sure you're the same otherwise you wouldn't have gone this far into the process.

Just an FYI- I had my band on 9/11 and have already cut my bp med in half, and cut my insulin amount to less than half! The little bit of soreness and people's rude judgements were worth it for me :)

The negative comments were basically the band doesn't work. Or that they regretted it because of different reasons. I really felt like I was being attacked for the decision I was making. Thank goodness there was one woman in the room who was willing to help me. She actually had to have her band taken out for numerous reasons, but she still had nothing but good things to say about it. I just want to make sure I am making the right decision for myself as well. I refuse to get the bypass or the sleeve. I work in GI and see all the problems that can happen with those procedures. I have only been in this process about 4 months so everything is still very new. I'm at the point where I have to make my preop appointment and I was stalling because of these people. Thank u all for your opinions.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
