Hi Everyone... went back to work yesterday (desk job) after being banded on Friday 10/12. Surgical sites didn't bother me much the first few days but by Monday, the gas began to give me some shoulder pain and pain under my rib cage. Glad I knew what to expect. It finally gave way last night in the usual manner and I am WAY more comfortable now! Will have my one week post op appt tonight (a day early!).

I lost 25 pounds on the two week pre-op diet and now another 8 since surgery. One thing that is consistent with every bandster I know (friends, support group, online)... those who are successful follow doctor's orders to a T. They get in the mindset of knowing that the docs know what works and gaming the system is how we (I) got here in the first place. Do I love shakes and Soups every day with no chewing? Not particularly but they are medicine and I am sick with a disease called obesity. I wouldn't consider not taking heart medication or cancer meds. I just keep focusing on the end result, a healthier me! Hope all goes well for those waiting to be banded!

Congrats Fallbride, This is so true about how well it works when following what the dr says. I only had 1 week Pre-op and lost 9.6lbs and since being banded on Friday I am down another 9lbs. Today will be my first day of just total rest because my husband is at work and the kids leave for school in 45 mins :)

The not chewing part is what our minds have the hardest time with, but I am so happy that I am listening to what the drs say instead of my head.

Praying for all that are being banded today and it does get easier even with the moments of discouragement in between.

I'm kinda freakin:( Banded at 10am tomoro, my sis was banded six days ago everything fine..some shoulder pain/gas for a few days. Sis told me she had trouble breathing right after surgery & woke up lost & disorientated.... But didn't last long. This is what's freaking me out WAKING UP AFTER SURGERY:( I'm a nervous nelly in general and make MYSELF mentally crazy...I'm not afraid of pain, had c-section, nose-tounge- eyebrow-&nipple pierced, lol, no problem! It's the breathing, waking up out of anesthesia & freaking out, and feeling weird gas bubbles in places like my chest & back.......ahhhhhhh

I was nervous too. I'd never had surgery before. I woke up and they were taking me to a recovery room. At first I was in a lot of pain but immediately the nurses asked me to rate my pain and gave me meds. Once the meds kicked in I started to clear up a little and it was fine. Just try to stay calm because getting yourself worked up makes it worse. I was back to surgery at 7 am and home by noon.

You all are fabulous! I don't post regularly, but the support here is fabulous. Oct 30 for me. Have to have nuclear stress test first. Crazy all different diets depending on surgeon. For me, just day before - liquids only, but after, one week of only Clear Liquids, then two weeks of mushies. Anybody know how long after surgery we have to wait to start walking again- like around the neighborhood?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
