Help! I Gained It All Back

Recommended Posts

So I was banded in 2007. Was hard to find sweet spot. Finally did. Then got too tight got reflux. Got unfill and was never the same. Now I have my daughter (3mo) and amazing but i've gained every pound back. Fills don't work. I think my pouch is too big up top. I don't want to go under the knife now that I have a little one and I cannot forsee myself doing a sleeve (for fear that I want another baby ad don't know that I would get enough nutrition. Plus I cannot afford to be out of recovery time.

Has anyone got band repositioned? Did it work? What was it like? How was recovery?

Wy wouldnt you use the tools you have?

The first thing I would do is to decide if I want to lose the weight. If the answer is yes... Call your surgeon and make an appointment. You lost it once so something was going right. Talk to him frankly and honestly. Get back on track and get a fill and let the band work for you

Are you saying you had a slip? Is that why your pouch is too large? If so, you NEED to get that fixed. The recovery would be similar to your original banding surgery from what I understand.

I would discuss it with the dr... Ask him if it slipped...and if so then you can get it fixed. Or maybe if it hasn't just a fill will do. Good luck I am sure you will feel better when you have some answers.

Try sticking with a reduced calorie level as well.... because as you know sometimes it takes a few fills to get to the green zone.

Congrats for getting back on the bandwagon!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
