I Cant Feel My Port Is This Normal?

Recommended Posts

It is very normal :) I have been able to feel mine since I was about a week post op. On the plus side, it should be easier when you go in for a fill :) Good luck to you!

I can't feel mine either. Don't care as long as Dr. can find it. I sure don't want to have to worry about bumping it ..I think it is still underneath a lot of fat.

Muell, you look great.....I'd like to hear your story.!!!

I cant feel it either!! It is funny where I thought was my port area, and I was always holding it, and feeling it, was not where my port is!!

I need to go back to kindergarten ;) I just re-read the original post and see that Mama Mama said she "can't" feel her port, not that she "can" feel it lol. Sorry for the mis read, my post probably didn't make sense, but like everyone else has said, it is normal to not feel your port as well :) I have seen many posts on here with the same concern, so you are not alone :)

Ugh I am so jealous that you can't feel your port. Mine is always pooching out and I graze it with my arm while I am walking. One of my teacher friends noticed that I put my left hand over it when I am tired or hungry, like a worry stone!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
