Had my first fill today and I hate to be one of those winny people but it didn't go well. Even my wonderful doctor was upset that they had such a problem with it. It has moved deeper and they had problems finding it. I also have some Fluid behind the two large incisions that they tried to remove so I'm pretty sore. Only got 3 cc's in because of the problems, he said sometimes lighter skin people have more trouble than darker which really sounds weird but he said it is true. On the plus side I do like his scales better than mine, his show 2 more pounds lost than mine do so I'll take that!!! I go back in two weeks, I'm sure it will go better than today.

I had my first fill yesterday, didn’t hurt and the Dr. did it on his first try, I feel restriction now, hopefully this will help me lose more lbs., I’ll be on liquids for 72 hours, he only allowed Water, ff Jello, and crystal light, he wasn’t impressed with my 10 lbs loss and wants me to get to 18 or 20 lbs in two weeks.

Lucy, Congrats on your 10 lbs. I think that is a good start. I am feeling so much better today. its the first time I think I can even begin to imagine exercise. I am signed up for a half marathon on Oct 13. I won't be running all of it. But I'll run a bit and walk most of the time. I am mostly doing it to support one of my friends. I'm over a month out from surgery now and feel back to normal again!!

Today I started my day crying, I was so excited, I lost 15 lbs this week!!!

I’m no longer a 100 kg. girl!!! I called my aunt and thanked her for helping me afford this surgery. I feel blessed today, now I feel I can do this.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Anybody home????

I hope this finds everyone progressing in your journey...I guess I am. I'm finally feeling good!! It seemed I would never be ME again after 10-12 days of feeling absolutely miserable...but once I was able to eat...WOW! Amazing what a little food will do for you! LOL

I have not lost any more weight - at least accd'ing to the scale. However, my pants are looser and my rings are sliding around my fingers. Guess that counts for something. Still, I know the scale is the standard for "success" - at least according to the professionals.

I will see the dietician and surgeon on Tuesday. I expect a lecture on what I'm doing 'wrong' - thing is, I feel no restriction at all since the Fluid was removed on Day 11. I do all right during the day, but fixing dinner for my family - well, that's my RED ZONE. By then I am starving, and find myself munching like I always have. Plus nibbling on whatever I am fixing...which includes french fries (one of my biggest weaknesses).

SO, evening is killer for me.

I fully expect to get my first adjustment on Tuesday...I'm hoping that will help with all this. I'm hungry all day long.

I am getting in my min 50g Protein, so that's a positive, but it does NOT fill me up.

I've learned what NOT to eat if I don't want to be miserable: rising crust pizza (even a SLIVER!), WW Ziti (usually my fave, but recently it did not go well)...those have been the worst, but have been a good 'trial' for me to know what won't work.

I'd love to hear how you all are doing. What has been your biggest struggle? What ARE your struggles (any??)? What are your successes? What do you miss? What do you no longer miss?

I will tell you this....of course I have had NO Diet Coke since the day before surgery (save a SIP and it wasn't tasty at all!)...my b-i-l/s-i-l are here for the weekend and he mentioned how "clear" my skin looked - not blemish-wise (I'm pretty much past that except for the occasional tiny pimple), but that it was really just more "radiant" - I don't notice it, but he did! So, maybe getting off pop has had more than one positive reaction in my body!!??

LET'S HEAR YOU!! I need to know where you are (be sure to mention how long post-op), and your thoughts on all the changes in your body!!

PLEASE SHARE!

Best,

Kim

Hi! I'm on my 5 week post op and I'm down 20 lbs, I had my first fill on the 20th, and I'm learning how to eat without drinking liquids,

I'm still hungry most of the day and don't fill full with the quantities that I'm allowed to eat, I have an appointment on Sep 3 and I hope I can get another fill.

I need to start exercising, but when I get home I'm so exhausted from work, I just need a little motivation or something.

I hope everyone is doing great, and if you have any tips regarding the weight loss or any foods that taste good, please share!!!

happy weekend!!!

Feeling a little discouraged. I had my surgery on July 26th I had lost 10 pounds on the pre diet. I did not get any resistance until 3 weeks after surgery and now only have 3 cc's due to complications last time I had a fill. Since I have lost 8-10 pounds more and I say that because it seems to fluctuate a lot! I can eat almost anything and unfortunatly now I can eat a lot more of it and I'm hungry all the time. I just fill stuck. I have a dr appt late today and am hoping we can get a new fill in without the trama we had last time. I hoped I would lose 40-50 pounds by late November for our Disney trip but now I don't know if that will happen. My oldest daughter gives me the evil eye everytime we eat together because she is watching what I eat as much if not more than I do but I stay hungry. My calorie intake seems to be going up everyday, I'm still under 1200 calories but I have to do something quick. Mainly just need someone out there that's been through this to give me some good advice.

lindabug don't get discouraged I was banded on July 24 and had a Dr. appt on Monday and he was pretty happy with my 22 lbs., I only have 2cc in my band and I'm also hungry most of the time but remember it's working!!!

My Dr. told me he expected me to loose from 16-18 lbs the first 6 weeks, so we are doing great, are you walking? that may help a little :)

I know how you feel when you talk about your daughter, my hubby and family are always watching me it drives me crazy sometimes, but that's how they help us in this journey.

Hope you feel better I know you can lose those 50 lbs!!! :)

Lucy that helps so much, I thought I was way behind and was getting really down. I was in tears Sat morning when my husband asked how it was going this week and I told him nothing had changed. He felt bad for even asking but my feelings have been very raw since my surgery. For some reason I go from happy to sad to angry in a minute which is not like me, I'm usually a very positive person.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
