I (heart) Blue Cross California Care HMO

Ever since I started this journey, my greatest fear has been that the HMO will refuse the authorize the surgery and I'd have a major battle on my hands. If only I'd known in the beginning that this would actually be the EASIEST part of this whole process. My surgeon's office submitted the authorization request last Tuesday. It was approved on Thursday. I got the letter in the mail on Saturday.

Two Days! That's got to be some kind of record.

Congratulations!

I had hoped I would be approved, but didn't want to count on it. I'd already told DH to get the checkbook ready, just in case. Apparently it was four days from when my letter was submitted to when I had received written confirmation of pre-approval from my ins. co.

My total cost for surgery was... hmmm... $20 copy for my consultation, and $20 copay to the hospital. $40. Unless you want to count the $20 copy for my pre-op physical. I was thrilled, and we saved a ton of money (my surgeon's cost near $30,000 and I would have kept the same surgeon) that we would otherwise have paid.

Congratulations!!

Hey,

After I got done smacking them around for FOUR months - they pulled their heads out for you!! I like to think that, anyway...

Happy Days!!

Congrats!
