Drinking Non-Carbonated Alcohol

Recommended Posts

How long did you wait after surgery to have a drink? What was it? Did you tolerate it ok?

I waited a month per me drs instructions. Be up front with your doctor so he can be honest about how long you should wait. But I have never have a problem with alcohol. Other than I have noticed my band get tighter.

i want to say the rule from my surgeon was like 6 weeks after surgery but i cannot recall for sure. If i made it the whole time i'd be surprised - i'm sure i indulged a little earlier than i should have. My go to drink is vodka (i stopped drinking absolute it got me way to drunk too fast - started drinking the diluted/cheaper stuff) with ice and Water and then crystal light - any flavor. A great, low cal, non-carbonated drink. CHEERS! B)

Hi everyone, I'm new round here... And am stoked to hear you can still have a few drinks. Can I ask ... Do u drink less with the band? I am not banded yet and currently have around 3 -4 glasses of wine most nights. I'm hoping the band will help me cut back A LOT ! cheers. Kiwi.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one! :0) I have a small glass of wine about once a week and it doesn't seem to upset anything. Still can't do beer as its too carbonated.

I drink wine, i like moscotto but can only have a little of that because it's bubbly. I also drink skinny girl sangarita.

I don't have any problem as long as the drink isn't carbonated, but it will absolutely get you drunker faster!!! The band really effects the alcohol absorption.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
