this coming Wednesday will be 3 weeks post op and I ate horrible today after a healthy lunch. I had a snack actually 2 Snacks, candy, a small piece of birthday cake. It was like I was on a feeding frenzy. I don't know what got into me. I feel so guilty and ashamed. I guess what's done is done and move on. Lord give me the strength to overcome the power of bad foods. Amen.

Don't feel guilty, put it behind you and move on!

You can't change it so forget it.

God luck moving forward.

I think the others are right dont beat yourself up over it and today is a new day :).

What i would say is learn from the experience tho and if u do feel like being naughty or cheating or need something to eat make it a healthy one, always keep SF Jello in the frige made up, i have sf jello made with Water and one made with skimmed milk in the fridge at all times, i make 3 pints of each at a time lol it lasts a long time but not only me eats it, keep greek yoghurt around, with a treat a teaspoon of maple Syrup. If u do end up having something that isnt healthy u have 1 inch only or 1 teaspoon, that way u can get your guilty pleasure without feeling too guilty afterwards :)

Think of it this way....a piece of candy and small piece of cake isn't that much; what could you have eaten beforehand? It's a victory of sorts. Many of us have been there, so just put it behind you and get back to what you know you have to do!

Thanks everyone for your support. Luckily I'm back on track with my healthy eating today, whew. Just got out of control yesterday.

Were these items in your house? Bit of tough love but through it all out and don't buy any more. You can't eat what's not there.

No offense intended, but these things happen, and will happen again. Don't beat yourself up over it. Just do your best and that is all you can do. I mean you are only three weeks post op, it is gonna get worse before it gets better. When you get your fills and the band starts working for you, you will have this whooped.

I started out eating good yesterday morning: had about 4 oz of Protein shake for beakfast before church, lunch was at O'Charley's and I shared with my mom and had about 3 oz of grilled Tilapia, a couple of pcs of broccoli and two bites of baked potato and then after I went to Walmart it went downhill from there. I went thru the cakes/sweet stuff and bought a cake just so I could have a small sliver of it and ended up eating a piece the size of 2"x2" and sending the rest home with my mom, then I ate a handfull of popcorn, 3 pcs of white choc. candy that I had left over in the house. It was awful. It was like I was out of control. I saw my doctor today instead of Thurs and told him and he just smiled at me and said once I get a fill and feel full and more satisfied after a meal then hopefully I won't feel the urge to do this again because right now I can pretty much eat anything I want without getting stuck. I've been eating lots of fish, veggies and eating healthy thus far and doing good, he was proud of my weightloss since surgery. I just don't know what came over me yesterday. The devil! That's it the devil...

And do you reallllllllly think you're the only one who ever cheated and ate something they should'nt have ?? No, most of us just dont tell on ourselves ! A week or 2 out of surgery i could'nt stand one more liquid, so i ate a couple of spoonfuls of tuna mixed with a little mayo. Heaven !!!! Nobodys perfect, we all probably did it, so dont beat yourself up over it. I love my sweets too, so i keep a couple of sf chocolate pudding cups , or TCBY frozen yogurt bars or weight watchers ice cream bars in the freezer for when i HAVE to have ice cream. Having a couple of emergency healthy treats in my house for when the cravings hit has been a big help. good luck !

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
