Recommended Posts

Hi, i'm Sylvia! A little info about me: 32 years old. I live in Maryland.I've been married for almost 2 years and have no kids.

I'm getting banded on July 2... in just a few days!! My weight when i started this process was 297 and i'm at 278

right now. My goal is 150... but i'm sure i'll be happy with like 170!

I would love to have a band buddy that has been there and done that! It would be cool if we have stared around the same place in weight!

Write me! :)

Hi Sylvia I am Diane. I was banded on February 10th. I was 211 after I came home from hospital. I now weigh 176. My highest weight was last year 216. I was really nervous about getting the band. I am glad I did it.So since hospital I have lost 35 pounds. It lost the first 31 real quickly. I didn't really want to lose real quickly because I feel it is better to lose slowly. It did slow down. I have been stuck for about 6 weeks. I have been yoyoing between 180 and 181. I upped my exercise and it did the trick. I went down 3 pounds. I was afraid to go to doctors this week but now I feel a little bit better about going.I still need to lose about another 65 pounds. This site is helpful. You learn alot. I felt better knowing that alot of people go through what I am going through. You also meet alot of people and learn alot of helpful hints. I wish you alot of luck.Don't worry about the surgery it isn't bad at all. Follow all the things they tell you to do. Turn to someone for help if you feel like you need it. I would love to be there for you so don't hesitate to contact me. Diane

No assigned pre-op diet but my surgeon asked that I do my best to lose the 10 lbs I put on since my first consult back in late January. Down since last pre-op visit on June 12th... We should stay in touch. My surgeon also routinely does an aggressive fill at time of surgery and according to him he doesn't have patients ask for additional fills very often... That sounds kinda weird but I won't argue. I want max restriction asap! I've been substituting at least one meal a day with the Premier shakes from costco (during the work week two meals) I really enjoy the costco shakes and they have almost no sugar, just 3g or so and 160 calories! Lost 5 of the 10lbs already!

Sylvia, Welcome good luck on your surgery. Where are you having it? which hospital? I was Banded on Dec 19th at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore. I started at 256 and I am now down 60 pounds. I have 60 based on my BMI, but would be happy with 150 too. I live in Fulton Maryland which is south of Columbia, and about 20 miles from Baltimore. I would be happy to be you band buddy. Suzie

Hi, Sylvia. I also live in Maryland. Had my surgery at St. Agnes Hospital on August 16, 2011. I'm down 69 pounds and doing well. I would be happy to be a support buddy. I know this is a scary journey, and someone to bounce things off is always helpful. Good luck on this wonderful journey.

Stephanie

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
