April 2006 Bandits

Recommended Posts

Congratulations to all our April bandsters. Hope you are all recuperating nicely. It is amazing how every day is better than the day before in the healing process, isn't it? I am 15 days post op and feel terrific. I still get tired in the late afternoons and today I started mushies - yippee!!! I don't think I could handle multiple Protein Drinks for another day. Tonight I had some baked Beans which I ate with my baby spoon and chewed very well. They went down great but I made sure I took my dear sweet time. I am a slow eater anyway so it isn't a problem eating slowly for me. I also got some thin sliced deli ham which I ate in very small pieces and chewed thoroughly. I hope once I get a fill that I am chewing enough. I don't like the sound of those PB's!!!

We've only got a few days left in this month and a very few pre-bandsters left. I sure hope that for those who haven't gotten their bands yet can tell by each of our experiences that it really wasn't so bad and yes you can do this. We are all here for you and know that you will do great!!! Good luck to all and keep us posted on your experiences and recoveries!!!!!

Hi, I am going to Mexico on Wednesday April 26th getting banded on Thursday. I just got this scheduled so have not started my liquids. Did anyone else not have to diet much prior to their surgery? Thanks for the encouragement Disneynut. I can't believe my time is just about here(Monday) after waiting so long ( 6 month supervised wls).

Tina: Congrats on your date. My surgeon did not require a pre-op diet. Some doctors do some don't. I have cut back on my carbs and have had at least one Protein Drink a day for about 2 weeks.

Kristie: Welcome to bandland

Please don't be upset, you are in our thoughts and we can't wait to hear back from you afterwards to see how you are..........remember how we missed you last time when we didn't hear back from you for a couple of days. Anyway I was the baby who cried on the OR table, can't do much worse than that...........I don't want you stealing my crown hehehe!!!

Maybe you have already left but I found it helped to read posts on here about the joy people had got from being banded and all the things that they didn't miss, I even took my list of reasons for wanting to do this to the hospital with me, it gave me strength.....shame about your hubby, is he always like that with these kinds of things!!!!

Write soon, we are waiting to hear from you

Lots of love, and wishes

Fiona aka amourette!!!:(

Hi all. Yup, I made it! Go figure! I still can't quite believe I have it!!!

Anyways, tks for all the support. I just wrote a lengthly post under the thread "Dang it! Dang it! Dang it!" in the "support" room/forum. So, if u want more detail you can read that. I didn't know how to copy and paste it here and I don't want to re-type it.

Lets just say that I'm ABSOLUTELY FAMISHED....and didn't expect that. Have been famished since I got out of recovery yesterday.

Anyways....to those who are being banded coming up....good luck!!

ok does anyone else feel like there guts are gonna fall out? I guess i never realized how much i used those stomach muscles to get up and down. Apparently there is a six pack under there where my two cases are sitting right now. Wooooooo I can't wait to be able to sleep on my side either, I have but when I wake up it sure feels like everything has been hanging and is sore. My stomach is kinda rumblin this morning like it is hungry. But I dont really feel hungry. I guess I'm just being a big wennie, I'm ready for those muscles to start feeling better.Sorry for the ramblin. Hope everyone is doin well.

Hey Gurl, I was just thinking about you. Good Lord I am sooooo hungry. Did you hear my stomach all the way over there? Think'n about slapping some Bar-B-Que sauce on DH. LOL. I hope I can go to sleep early so that I don't have to have my stomach growling all night. I am so ready to do this. I leave my house 8:30am tomorrow, the hospital is about 10min away. I have an overnight stay so I'll give you guys a line or two when I get in Tuesday. They discharge late in the afternoon so you'll probably hear from me around 5pm. BTW, 20#s lost? Outstanding!!!! Work that band :-) Thanks for thinking of me.....

Well my fellow Bandits, my time is just about here. I am exhausted, and anxious. But I am so ready to get this show on the road. I leave tomorrow at 8:30am. They told me to be there at 9am so I have no idea what time my surgery is, I'm just thankful I didn't have to wait until the afternoon. The next time you hear from me I will finally be a BANDIT. I will return home on Tuesday, late afternoon. Thank you ALL for your prayers, and kind words through this long journey.

Roberta

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
