How Many Carbs Is Low Carb? How Much Fat?

Recommended Posts

I would like to follow a low carb diet and I'm getting so much conflicting info I'm confused... If I'm eating 1000 - 1200 calories a day and around 80 - 90 grams Protein how many carbs should i be eating? I have been hearing 30 , 60, 100, and then on fitness pal it told me 165??? Also what is the limit for fat intake on a low carb diet?

Help!

My doc wants me to try 30 grams of carbs a day. I belong to myfitnesspal also and 165 is ridiculous! he also wants me to get at least 70 grams of Protein in. Since I am watching the other two, I'm not watching fat grams.

30 grms of carbs is same as i eat, it is classed as low carb, i only eat low fat or 0% fat stuff so dont count the grms .

Thanks for the replies everybody. 30 grams seems so low, mind if I ask for an idea of what you all eat?

I stay at 50-60 g Protein and under 30 carbs daily (for the most part), thats what my dr advised. For food ideas you can find me on my fitness pal (skinnybitchnikki) and see what I eat! Gl :)

My doc has me on 80-100 g oh Protein a day and allowed 100 g of carbs but he said the key is blood sugar. Anything higher than 10 g of sugar or 20-25 g of carbs per meal will spike it causing no weight loss so that's what I stay under and I get awesome results but ever persons body is different. Staying at 100 g of carbs per day keeps me from being deprived while still keeping it low.

When I was doing my pre op low carb, I had to stay under 20g carbs. Definitely couldn't do that long term!! Even 30 sounds so much better

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
