Mine was about 30 minutes. Asked about any history of eating disorders like anorexia (obviously not!), thoughts of suicide, etc. it was a breeze for me and I'm sure it will go great for you as well.

I had to take a test with about 150 question, then once he found out I was from the U.K we discussed the NHS. Spent about an hour and not one question on my wt or any eating disorders...

They asked about eating disorders and grilled about my support system. Made sure that it was something I was doing for me not for a crazed spouse or something.

I had the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI). It was about 560 yes or no questions that were re-phrased and repeated along the way.I just answered honestly and evidently I am not crazy, ha. Then I had an interview with the phsyc doctor (who was overweight too by the way). She just asked me why I wanted the surgery, and I was honest again. (failed dieting, health issues, etc.) Then she collected her $350 and gave me my approval. Just another hurdle.....keep jumping through the hoops, its worth it!

Took a really long survey that asks you questions to determine if you are crazy (i.e. have you been on more than 14 magazine covers this year) hehe Then they talked to you about surgery, weight issues, etc, nothing to sweat.

I was dreading the psych eval so much I waited until it was the very last thing on my checklist to do. It was nothing to fear, I swear. It took an hour because I was self-pay and paid for an hour and the main topic was how much he likes his job and feels like he really helps people, lol. The only things we discussed that even pertained to me were if I had a good support system at home and if I understood the possible risks involved in having surgery. No test or anything like that.

As long as we're not out and out looney toons I think we should all be ok. My brother passed in March and we were very close. I still have issues dealing with that but I would sure hope that wouldn't stop me from getting a lap band!

Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) here as well. Just answer honestly. Then a conversation with the Doc.

I'm sorry for the loss of your brother.

Thank you. It's been tough. It's bitter sweet. He suffered so much throughout his life(due to illness he was born with and at the hands of drug manufacturers- I'd love to tell all but signed a NDA) but I miss him so much and still wish he were here but that things could be different for him.

It's due to his passing that I'm financially able to have this surgery so that's been kind of hard in the fact that he's not here to watch me changr and Celebrate the victories with me.

Anyway sorry to ramble but he's still a big part of my life and with this surgery he always will be.

Johnathan

No problem, I'm sure it helps to talk about it. I'm glad that he will be with you always. That's what this site is about, support. Thank you for sharing. Good luck to you :) Lisa

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
