For premade Premier brand (which advertises on the site is quite good. Available at costco and Sam's. For Vitamins my doctor says to look for Choline in the multi. I take the store brand version of Flintstone chewables from Costco. I also take Caltrate Plus D chewable for Calcium, Vitafusion gummies Fiber and Vitafusion Gummy Vitamin D, Biotin 5,000 mg (tick tack size capsule), and Iron 65 mg. Since my doctor recommends stuff from regular stores I don't really see the need to buy expensive bariatric vitamins. After all thin people take regular vitamins.

Thank for the hints, my surgery is going to be on July 18 and I was wondering what would be a good store Protein shake. Somebody else in you tube recommended premier as well.

Thank you

I'll second the Premier shakes. I tried a bunch of powders: Syntrax nectar, unjury, JayRob and I couldn't stand any of them, I thought they all had a horrible aftertaste. The premier shakes don't have that aftertaste for me. I also like the EAS advantedge carb control shake in strawberry. It only has 17g of Protein, so not nearly as much as permier (30g) but they are good for a difference. I've found EAS at the grocery store, target etc.

As for Vitamins my doctor recommends 2 Flinstones chewables a day, so that's what I take. They don't taste as good as I remember though.

I have tried Unjury and Walmart brand and CVS of Protein Powder. I use low fat and latose free milk and fill with ice. I got the flavored "sugar free" carmel, hazelnut to add to my Protein Shake, you can find it at walmart about 2-3 a bottle. I also have unsweetend Coco powder and pumkin pie spice. I also add cinnamin to my shakes too. I will add a 1/2 pack of stevia to my shake mix and use defaf coffee. youtube has examples of bandsters with alot of good ideas-thats where I found most of my information. Good luck! :D

my surgeons office recommended Unjury. do you have flavors that you use for these delicious sounding concoctions? or do you use the unflavored?

I have tried the Unjury "unflavored" choc and strawberry. I purchased the variety package from Unjury and then I picked what I liked. My friend got me the "cheese sauce" Protein but I have not tried it yet. Actually, what you mix with it will make it taste better but at the same time watch the calorie intake of the mixtures!

I love the banana and chocolate flavors made by Bariatic Advantage. Both can have flavors added to them---like Sugar Free Chocolate mint Syrup in the chocolate and Peanut Butter to the banana.

The shakes are not as good to me made with Water. I use skim milk. They have 27grams of Protein in one 8 oz shake. Some of the best numbers on the market!!! I also use VitaBand. The Vitamin made by Bariatric Advantage. My surgeons office sells the products so it's easy to pick up during a visit! I know they cost more but I have compared them to some of the others--/ you get what you pay for. I take one Vitamin A day-chewable watermelon flavor--- 180 in a bottle. That's a 3 months supply.

I am a fanatic about the protein! I have always been told I have beautiful hair and I don't want that to change :)

I have tried Body Fortress powders (Walmart), Pure Protein powders, Jay Robb (I only like orange dreamsicle, the others have a weird aftertaste), etc but I always come back to the pre-made Premier Nutrition chocolate shakes. I wouldn't sing their praises in terms of flavor (think watered down chocolate milk), but I can stomach them and they aren't terrible. I do sometimes add sugar free syrups or mix with fruits to change the taste up.

You could also go to a local Vitamin Shoppe (or other supplement store) and buy the sample packs. I know unjury and nectar Protein both sell sample packs online.

My surgeons office sells Prescript Fit and I prefer it over the others I tried. It is Egg protien and it is best mixed in a blender... It is smooth and creamy and thick and helps keep you full for several hours.

I have tried Body Fortress, Gladiator , GNC Lean shake and Muscle Milk.

The premade muscle milk are great if your in a hurry on the go.

Hope this helps. :-)

I like the Premier Protein pre-mixed shakes, you get them at costco. But honestly I find all Protein Drinks have a funny taste...unless you drink with a straw! I know many of us have been told not to, but I just sip slowly. It gets rid of whatever funny odor I'm smelling/tasting and helps it go down easier.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
