How many calories per day do you eat?

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty new to this board, I posted only once before, and now I forgot how to do it, hopefully I'm posting in the right board, I just couldn't figure out how to start a thread to ask this question:

I'm eating now between 1200-1350 for the past two weeks, before I was doiong 1500-1600 and I was in a long plateau, I broke it after my last fill, but I'm concerned that I may still be eating too many calories? Can you tell you how many are you eating? any advises please? I weight 249 now, I walk 30-45 min per day. Thank you for your help.

i was banded on 3/3/2006 and have been very discouraged at the amount i have been able to eat. doc says it is because i have not had my first fill and that i should stay between 800 and 1200 calories per day. i have managed so far to keep it at 1200(maybe a little above)but it has :cry not been easy. i am not sure how to start a thread but i would love some feedback on how bandsters coped pre fill and how many calories they are eating :hungry: at this stage. just needing some encouragement. thanks!!:D

Well I had my band on 2/16 I still haven't had my fill which will be on the 24th of this month. My nutritionist have me 1200 calories a day. 60g of Protein and 40g of fat. She told me it was fine if I don't make the calories between that as long I get my Proteins and my fat in. to stay between 1000 to 1400 a day it was fine. And that's how it's also supposed to be after my fill.

Thank you so much for your response, that helps me because I don't know how I was able to eat less than what I'm eating now without starving, it's really hard. Thank you so much.

Kell,

Although you're fairly newly post-op and as I recall I was only getting about 800-1000 cal so soon after surgery (I had no appetite and felt full all the time), 800-1200 cal prior to a first fill may be a little difficult. It also sounds a little like bypass recommendations. My dietician told me to strive for 1200-1500 cal, but to absolutely make sure I achieved my Protein goal of 45-60gm of Protein a day even if I had to supplement.

Once your initial post-op swelling wears off, you may not have any restriction at all and you will find yourself being able to eat larger quantities than you anticipated. It's not uncommon and many get frustrated or even panic. This is an important time to do your best to remember to make the best choices you can despite the lack of restriction. Until you get adjusted and have some restriction, it will be hard but remember why you had this surgery and keep focused.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
