I haven't scheduled my surgery date yet :( but 6/23/12 is when my nutritionist and I will talk about diet to shrink my liver. My doctor requires 1 month of this diet. I'm scared because for this last month I have been cheating and I want to make sure I can get myself back on track. Guess I just need some kind words to help me!

Take a deep breath! You are probably just stress eating! Prep mentally by realizing you are taking a giant step to take control of your health and life! I got to 2 Protein shakes + dinner each day before the presurgery diet. This really helped me focus.

You may want to Xerox from sugars and carbs before you see the nutritionist. It will be fine. Don't get too down on yourself...

Mine was a 2 week preop diet to shrink my liver and it was a full liquid diet. It apparently worked as my surgeon said my liver was very small. Everyone surgeon requires something different though.

My surgeon required 2 weeks of diet that consisted of Protein Shakes for Breakfast and lunch with a small Protein packed dinner.< /p>

Every sugeon has their own way of doing things, you will have to see what they tell you.

I did the total liquid for 2 weeks prior, my Doc had me do slim fast 6 a day, and other Clear Liquids. He told me the same thing that Mayasgram's Doctor told her, if you have a fatty liver I will not band you. First thing I said when I woke up was if my liver was fat... grin

There is no need for a "last meal" mentality. You can and will be able to eat after the surgey. I eat what I want just smaller portions. I do eat really healthy but if I'm at a party I can choose to eat party foods. The issue is having treats once a month not everyday.

My doc said the same. If I have a fatty liver he will stitch me up and make me wait.

I think you are getting all worried about something you have no control over. Just wait 'til the visit with the nutritionist, she will answer all questions.

Before my surgery the thing I was having trouble giving up was the liquid during my meals. I tried so hard but couldn't do it. After the surgery it was all

real and I just followed the rules. I didn't want to mess up any of the progress. This has been such a life saver for me that, for the 1st time I really took it quite seriously! I never want to go back to 239, never. I love all the energy I have, I love that my blood pressure is down, I've cut out extra meds now.

What do you think you want the most? Make some lists.....keep reading all the positive posts from people who are successful. Good luck, we want you to be successful too.........

It's kind of ironic, here we must go on a strict diet to get the weight off... Before surgery. Funny thing is... Isn't that why we get the lapband surgery because we need the tool to help us lose weight???? Just remember to do the best you can to get the weight off. Ok a cheat day and tomorrow a new day to get on track. Before my surgery in 2011, I struggled with the strict diet. I managed to lose before surgery but it was a bear! Keep your eye on the prize!!!!!

Mine wasn't worried about weight loss, it just caused the liver to decrease in size in case it was enlarged. So they have an easier time flipping it around to get to the stomach.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
