Remeber that each person is dirrent and will experienmce different things; also that even if it were all the same, you might consider something on a different pain level as I would .... all that being said ... MY experiences with the band were/are:

I was admited on Wed had the surgery that morning and was released Thurs afternoon (I would have been released around 2 had the nurses taken me off the pump pain meds and started giving me oral meds sooner.

I have never felt any of my fills, my Dr. {as I would hope/imagine is the general practice with others} gives a local first - burns for a sec, no worse then getting any other kind of shot.

Hope this helps quell some of your fears (and probable insomnia ... lmao). I am sure {and hope} you will hear from others as well.

My clinic doesn't use any sort of numbing stuff, they don't need to. Just a small pinch and we are done.

When I got a couple of fills by an interventional radiologist, it did hurt, and I needed the numbing shots and cream.

It all depends on how experienced your fill nurse/doc is.

And as for how long your stay is, well that all depends on a bunch of factors. I had to stay overnight because I was a high risk patient. I went home the next morning, but went shopping on the way home. My DH had to stay in hospital for several days because he was Super Super MO, and weighed 600 pounds. He had really bad swelling, and needed to stay until the swelling went down.

Most of the patients done by my clinic are done as an out patient.

The needle is very big and wide and it does hurt quit a bit. It hurts alot more if they fish around at all looking for the port. LOL....my surgery actually hurt less. Of course I actually was enjoying all of the drugs they gave me for the surgery. I actually felt great after my surgery. Weird. You may feel tightness in your band afterwards.

Sparkling, at my DW's doctor's office they numb the port area before giving you a fill. She had a bit of bruising afterwards, but they also had a little trouble finding her port. They needed the LONG needle and all they had were the short needles.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
