I'm on day 4 of pre-op diet and my husband just cooked himself a great smelling dinner and is eating it right in front of me. I find it very inconsiderate, am I just sensitive and irritable because of my lack of solid food intake?

That would annoy me too! Can you ask him to go in another room?

My husband did that also...I very pointedly asked him if he would please consider eating in another room. He apologized, and told me he was not thinking about the possible effects his eating in front of me would cause.

It never happened again...men as a rule in my experience, just don't think things through too well...sorry guys! :)

No you are not over sensitive, I told my husband one night that if he was going to continue to gorge himself he would have to eat some where else. He laughed but I was dead serious,

I had that reaction at first too, but then I realized I share this home with another person that hasn't chosen to alter their body.

My husband did the same thing! I let him know how much it bothered me and guess what seven days post op... He is still doing it! Grrr. Isk if it's over sensitive or not but I can tell you this- it's easier to deal with the longer you stick with the eating plan that your supposed to be on. My hubby actually stopped for fast food on the way home from my surgery, they just don't think! Just keep your eye in the prize cause it gets a little easier every day!

I fixed meals for my family while on my pre op diet and after when I was on liquids/soft, etc. I signed up for this lifestyle so I did not "punish" my family or make them feel guilty for what they were eating. I think you're being too sensitive. What are you going to do when you're other places and people are eating and drinking things you no longer can eat, make them leave? It's like every other addiction, you have to work through it. If it bothers you to see your husband/family eating things you can't, maybe it should be you to leave the room.

On the flip side, the man's gotta eat, and why don't you go in another room? It's easier to control yourself than someone else... Not minimizing your feelings, but it doesn't have to be about you, it could be that he's focusing on his needs and letting you focus on yours... Seems like a reasonable thing...

I could care less what someone eats in front of me. Get a grip on yourself first before you get one on him/her/them.

I do all the cooking so what my other half ate was what i had cooked him ! .. i was also a 'couldnt care less what people ate in front of me' .. i bet many of the peoples partners on here could do with losing weight too, my partner he lost 70lbs by just eating what i was eating , bigger portions of course, but this was so much easier with both of us eating healthy, our healthy eating habits need to be passed onto all our family and children before we make the next generation as fat as we are/were.

I realized early that I chose to make this change not my husband or family. I can't ask him to drink shakes just like he can't ask me to eat chicken fried steak. You have to learn to deal with it. Unfortunately this will happen a lot on your journey.

I'm with those who point out that it is us who have made the decision to change so it should be us who are flexible enough to leave the room if our partner's eating bothers us. But that is coming from one who has been fortunate enough to have a most considerate and supportive husband. We share the cooking and our goal is to cook meals that we can both eat as much as possible. He makes different choices when we eat out and that's how it has always been, including pre-band. The bonus for us is that he has lost about 5kg (which is all he needs to lose), but his cholesterol levels have also dropped.

On day two my husband brought home a 32 ounce malt and drank it in front if me. He is so supportive and felt bad later. The next day he didn't eat anything and got to feel bad. I decided I want him to eat and not think about me. It was my choice plus I have Benifit of satiety and he doesn't. We started to eat meals as a family yeaturday and my son and us laughed about my minute timer for bites. It was fun and started to feel normal again ;)

Our journey isn't theirs and we have to stay together. Eating should be a family thing even banded. Good luck on the journey.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
