lappyloo reacted to Whitney Cunningham in What's Wrong With MeI'm also at 6cc and I don't feel much restriction and stay hungry. I don't do bread or pork well though. But I can do bread on occasion when I'm feeling really naughty. I just wish I'd get full off 4oz of food!

lappyloo reacted to Visionary444 in Doctors Office And Healthy Eating.I'm so glad you posted this! I have just recently been disappointed by viewing such things as well. For example, yesterday I went to a clinic for my EKG, bloodwork, etc. As I approached the very nice woman at the counter I noticed next to her computer a bag of chocolate chip Cookies and a Starbucks coffee. She was very sweet, and she was morbidly obese. As I handed her my chart she said "Oh, you are getting the lapband! That is wonderful! I had that done a year ago!"
Needless to say, I was very surprised (Deer in the Headlights surprised).....and to be honest, somewhat disappointed. My DH said "Honey, you never know...she may have lost 150 pounds". Perhaps food addiction is simply that and there are those that are unable to change such habits such as eating junk food in the middle of the day. Believe me, I am a compassionate person in regards to such things. I just think it would be more appropriate in a medical setting to not have junk food out in plain site for people like "me" to see. Just my two cents.....

*laughs*
I woke up in considerable pain, feeling like I'd been hit by a truck, and immediately started to question my decision.
...needless to say, I got over that fast. I love my band

lappyloo reacted to Rachel2063 in Annoyed !I am in a friend's wedding in October and my consult is next week. I told my "friend" the bride to be that I was going to have it done. She kinda freaked out on me - it what it boiled down to was that she didn't want me to be skinnier than her...she actually said that. She's not supporting me at all and said that I can never eat again. I told her I've had a long relationship with food and over eating and that I was ready for it to be over. I can't wait till her wedding is done with....gonna trim the fat in other areas of my life.

lappyloo got a reaction from Alanna in 2Nd Fill Now @ 6 Cc'sI am so HAPPY, I was really starting to doubt whether the band was going to be a useful tool, for me personally. FINALLY, after reading about a lot of my fellow bandsters eating smaller portions and having lost weight, I can say I am there too. What a great feeling to have restriction. I have been at the 20lb mark basically since 1 week post-op, (first week of June) but since last Tuesday when I got my 2nd fill, I have lost 3 lbs. Woo Hoo. Just posting this to give everyone that has been banded but haven't reached restriction yet, HOPE that the time WILL COME and it makes it all worth it. I put on a pair of shorts yesterday that I faithfully wore everywhere for the past year and 1/2 because they were the only ones that fit. Size 18, they fell off of me. So the scale says I've lost between 23-24 lbs, but my body has lost inches!!! My husband couldnt believe his eyes. I was jumping up and down with joy. Not because I've lost weight as much as it is about that now I know this CAN and WILL help me to reach my goals!!!

lappyloo reacted to fehlcon in Second Fill Success!I am finally feeling what others have been describing as restriction. I am a very small lunch and was still too full to eat much of my dinner. I'm really excited to finally feel what I was hoping to feel. I had doubts before but now I know that in a few months I'll be successful. I can't wait!

I hope others read this and realize how detrimental a too tight band can be.

lappyloo reacted to Lapbandster in Didn't Realize How Bad It WasSo moral of the story: Don't try to outsmart your doctor or your band. Making it too tight will NOT help you lose weight quicker!
It will only make you feel miserable
THANKS for posting this! I needed to hear it

lappyloo reacted to Fantasy in What Does Your Doctor Expect? The doctors have thier rules and expectatons. These are good guidelines. However, our bodies and our minds and emotions bounce to a different tune. I never got worked up over what my doctor expected. As long as I was following the rules as best as I could. I didn't expect to be good all the time as I sure wasn't before the surgery (this wasn't going to change overnight). I figured I would never be perfect, but I would do the best I could most of the time. So I didn't put too much pressure on myself. I did what worked for me physically, emotionally and my everday way of living. It was a slow process. My doctor soon realized I was slow but successful. Now seven years later I am one of his most successful patiients.

Plantar Faciitis I had when running. It is THE WORST! If you are having heel pain this is likely the cause. It is extremely common. I went to the urgent care foot doc (yes, we have them at our ugent care) as I just couldn't take it a second longer. He gave me a cortisone shot right through the heal. The most painful shot I have ever has and I screamed like a woman in labor when he did it. But I would do it all over again as literally 30 minutes later the pain was GONE. After months of issues. Anywho, Maybe talk to your doc about a cortiseone shot for what ails to. Of course you cant have too many, but man it was great! BEst part, NO MEDS!
Plantar fasciitis (PF) is a painful inflammatory process of the plantar fascia, the connective tissue on the sole (bottom surface) of the foot. It is often caused by overuse of the plantar fascia or arch tendon of the foot. It is a very common condition and can be difficult to treat if not looked after properly. Another common term for the affliction is "policeman's heel".[1]
Longstanding cases of plantar fasciitis often demonstrate more degenerative changes than inflammatory changes, in which case they are termed plantar fasciosis.[2] The suffix "osis" implies a pathology of chronic degeneration without inflammation. Since tendons and ligaments do not contain blood vessels, they do not actually become inflamed. Instead, injury to the tendon is usually the result of an accumulation over time of microscopic tears at the cellular level.
The plantar fascia is a thick fibrous band of connective tissue originating on the bottom surface of the calcaneus (heel bone) and extending along the sole of the foot towards the toes. It has been reported that plantar fasciitis occurs in two million Americans a year and in 10% of the U.S. population over a lifetime.[3] It is commonly associated with long periods of weight bearing. Among non-athletic populations, it is associated with a high body mass index.[4] The pain is usually felt on the underside of the heel and is often most intense with the first steps of the day. Another symptom is that the sufferer has difficulty bending the foot so that the toes are brought toward the shin (decreased dorsiflexion of the ankle). A symptom commonly recognized among sufferers of plantar fasciitis is an increased probability of knee pains, especially among runners.Jump to: navigation, search Plantar fasciitis

lappyloo got a reaction from jenband12 in Nsaids And Prednisone-Erosionjenband12, I switched to Tylenol this past week and it has been helping, I also take it with caffeine. That might be the key to it working.

lappyloo reacted to honk in Nsaids And Prednisone-ErosionSpeak with your doctor. There is a type of asperin that does not break down in the stomach. It's coating does not break down until it gets to the intestines.

lappyloo reacted to Humming Bird in Nsaids And Prednisone-ErosionAsprin is a NSAID, so the same rule would be true.
You can try tylenol for headache and see how it goes. They do make adult liquid tylenol.
When nothing else will work for me I take a double does of Jr. strength liquid ibuprophen......yes, it's an NSAID, but in liquid form it does not sit there on the stomach tissue. There are also some topical treatments you can find in vit. stores ....... they go on like roll-on. There is also a solid stick you can find at Walmart called Head-on. You rub it on your forehead or back of neck. It works well, but icky in hair
