How Did I Possibly Go From 200 Lbs To 124 Lbs And Back To 176 Lbs?? :(:(

Recommended Posts

after a year and a few months, w NO probs, I had lost from 200 to 124 lbs. Yep!!? A size 16 to a size 4. My internist, KNOWING I was a lap band pt. Prescribed Fossomax , and wi NO instructions on taking it w, food, no food etc. After two mos. I had the most dreadful pain ever, rushed to my bariatric surgeons office and had all Fluid released. Instant releif! After two months w NO Fossomax and much Nexium, I had gained almost 40 lbs I got 2 fills w in a few mos., they were scared to get me back where I was successful previously. Long story short, I got so tired and depressed, I did not go for a year, and now I am back to a bouncing 176 lbs. I guess what brought me here today is that I did get the courage to make appt. w bariactic surgeon today and am nervous and wondering did this happen to anyone else?

If you don't keep up maintenace with your band, you can always gain weight back. If you took out most of the Fluid, you're pretty much wide open like pre-surgery. I'm guessing you started eating more and maybe some things you shouldn't have.

Just call your surgeon and get started again. If you don't, it's likely you will keep gaining.

This actually sounds like a band success story in the making, and the reason I was excited about the band over other forms of WLS... You know how to do this and be successful. Now you just need to do it and you'll be back there again.

I too have had some weight gain- 40 of 107 lost. I don't know how it frieken happend. Anyway, I am told I got to thin so of the 40 I want to loose 15-20. Not feeling real motivated- have a couple vacations coming up. Overall I am struggling. I will be happy if I don't gain any weight over the next month or so. After my vacations I will hopefully get back on the wagon and start loosing. I had a Tummy Tuck and am very worried I ruined the results of that with the weight gain. I guess only time will tell on that. Get a fill and get back to basics. You can do it!

Glad you are doing better. Just a suggestion: try cutting carbs for next week or so. It will boost your effort and hopefully be a kind of detox from carbs. If that's your weakness, that is. I'm a Cereal and milk kind of girl. :-)

Omg! Do you KNOW me? I am a carbaholic!!!!!!! I could eat pastsa almost all day long. Thanx for the detox info, I sure willl try! The only thing I'm not sure I can give up is my little bowl of instant grits in the AM, they calm my morning irritable stomach.

Here's to this new fill working!!!!! I can say I've not been hungry since it was done and I was ALWAYS hungry !!!! :):)

I can relate, for sure. I love carbs. I struggle everyday with it. I lose, often.

My nutritionist said carbs beget carbs. The more you eat the more you want. Something about insulin response. Dunno about the technical part of that stuff. My blood sugar is way better now - completely normal as opposed to diabetic levels.

PM me if you need a sponsor. I have "sponsors" whom I can call/text/pm if I'm feeling weak.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
