Any Singers, Choir Members, Soloists Etc??

I am wondering if anyone who is a singer can tell me how long it will be before I can comfortably sing again. Ihave heard that some people have trouble singing for awhile due to the possible strain on your stomach muscles. Did anyone have this problem. I am scheduled to perform at a party one month after my surgery. I also sing on a choir at my church.

I am on the praise team at our church and sang 10 days post op. I was a little winded but it was nothing major. Within a month I was fine. :)

Banded April 6 did a 3 HR recording session (background) for a friend with no problem last night.:-)

My surgery was April 2nd in which I missed Easter Sunday to give my stomach time to hell. However, I song on the next Sunday and was a little winded but made it after that. I would say sit out at least two weeks after your surgery to make sure you come back strong. Boy I can sang and hold those notes longer now! My Minister of Music looks at me and laugh.

I'm the director of worship ministries at my church and I was singing 2 days after my surgery. However, that is not to say that it did not hurt (not during, but after I was really sore). The biggest thing for me was that I had to work on my breathing as it was a real change with the band in. I took me a good three weeks (singing for 45 minutes or more at least every other day) to get my breathing correct and to really feel comfortable singing. Also, since I tend to burp more since I got the band, I do not eat within 2 hours of singing. For our evening services, I will either wait until after the service or I will drink a protein shake or smoothie about an hour before.
