I want to finish my eggs!!!!!!!

I'm sure this is the first of MANY times I'm going to be frustrated about not being able to eat something, but it's a big wake-up call suddenly experience what it means to not be able to eat. I sort of want to cry... Just had 2 sunny-side up eggs and a little potato and I got about 3/4 through and feel this intense tightness in my ribcage. I'm sure it means I'm full. But it's really really upsetting to see those 3 last bites of egg sitting on the plate, wanting to be eaten, and know that if I go there something bad is going to happen. I poured Water on them, so I wouldn't be tempted, but I'm still upset... :-(

I made myself one package of instant oatmeal, and I couldn't finish it.

It was a weird feeling, but I wouldn't say sad, as much as disappointment.

That tightness is the first sign of being stuck for me...do NOT eat more when you feel that. Yes, it gets frustrating when you can't finish what you think you could eat. But get used to it. I've had times where I get stuck on the first bite and the rest goes in the trash. Very frustrating when eating out and I cannot take it home.

Be aware, many bandsters cannot eat eggs. I can, but they are a common item to get stuck.

Thanks cocobean, I was afraid that was what was going on... But I did manage to eat 1 1/2 eggs, and 20 minutes later I'm definitely full, but fine. They were very soft eggs. I'm afraid of hard ones...

if i had to guess it was probably the bit of potato swelling in your band area vs the eggs. Potatos of any kind other than mashed are a real problem for me

I would only eat one then and no potato. I find scrambled soft are a better option for me. I put ketchup on them. I cant eat many things unless they have something. Sauce, mayo, ketchup or something on it.

This meal was fine, I would actually consider it a huge success. But emotionally it's hard not being able to eat something you want to... That was my only point.

Ah...I am going to feel the same. When were you banded? I thought we were banded around the same time and I cant have eggs but want to.

I was banded April 18th, a week and a half ago... I was supposed to do liquids for 10 days after surgery, but when I got my checkup she said my esophagram looked really good so I could move on to mushies. When do you get to eat eggs?

I was banded the next day on the 19th. eggs arent on my list but right now I can have mashed potatoes, hummus, and cottage cheese...but the list they gave me just has these three things on it nothing else...besides creamy Soups. I suppose eggs would work too. Hmmm...I need a better list.

I have had my band for 2 years and can not eat scrambled eggs, they will not stay down. I can eat fried and poached carefully and have no trouble with hard boiled. One of my favourite things is hard boiled eggs smooshed (is that a word?) up with cottage cheese and finely diced spring onions. For you -without the onions at this stage i would think. Good luck and enjoy the results of not being able to eat those last few mouthfuls.

I was banded the 18th too and had scrambled eggs for dinner last night. It's hard to chew those into paste consistency. But they sure filled me up! So glad to eat my Protein instead of drink it.

And we are just going to have to get used to stashing leftover morsels in the fridge, feeding them to pup, or watching them go down the drain. Its a strange new phenomenon but I kinda like it! I bet it's what skinny people do...

Sasha, you will find it to be an emotional roller coaster. We've been taught to clean our plates, then we have surgery so that we have to eat less...then we get angry when we CAN'T clean our plates... i mean really, how silly is that??

But I still struggle with the mental part of not being able to finish my portion, it's just wrong. There are starving kids in China! I can't take it home, I have to eat it. It's just a Lean Cuisine, I should be able to finish it! The list goes on and on. But really, we had this surgery to limit our intake. When you feel satisfied stop. If you feel pain STOP!!! If you feel pain and keep eating you are setting yourself up for more pain.

I can't tell you how many times I've gotten stuck on the first bite of a meal. It makes me want to cry. The last time the DH and I were out for lunch. He was kind of pressuring me to eat even though I was in pain (stupid of me to listen) so I ate on top of the pain. On the way home I started sliming. It was a miserable ride. I thought I was going to have to have him pull over. I keep dog poo bags in my purse, but didn't want to urp in front of him, because he would join me.

Listen to your band, don't listen to your plate or anyone else. You are worth it, the food is not! You will taste it again.

Sasha, you will find it to be an emotional roller coaster.

It is definitely that!! I'm all over the place. This morning was just weird. And tonight was weird too... I had greek yogurt for dinner and I have to say, even though I ate Breakfast at 11am, I still wasn't THAT hungry by dinner time. I would describe it as the "I could eat" feeling... Anyway, I could only eat half the container.

It's just baffling!! I mean, I know that this is why I got the band, but I really had absolutely NO IDEA how to imagine what it would feel like.

So far, I love it!! This was much better than I was even dreaming of!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
