Hummingbird, The last time I had a fill was about early 09. I was pretty much at my capacity then and I don't think I can tolerate eating any less than I already do. I will reconsider it though. I weigh 220, but I don't eat much at all. If I make a sandwich for lunch, I can only take about 3-4 bites of it,

Cheri, It's nice to be back. You're right, and since this is the rants and raves section of lap band, no one can say I can't talk about the things I choose to. Hope your day is great!

It is so glad to see your post but . . . this one I don't totally agree with you on all points you made. That is why as Christians we need to read and study the Word.

Hi Patty I'm new to this site.I joined in 2010 but didn't use it until a couple of months ago.banded 4/6/2012.I never saw rants thread until just now.Reading others posts on here I'm understanding that this is the " anything goes" place.with that said I must say personally I was turned of by your post.I felt like it was inappropriate .May be I need to learn more about how this works but I didn't like it. I think that you have every right to say what u want and not trying to stop u.But just for me I would love to hear more about God giving us strength and power to get healthy,or how God is with is when we are in a bad place and binging, or how faith and prayer have been scientifically proven to help heal .I guess I've heard the fire and brimstone message enough in my life.Hell is real I agree but innmy opinion every body has been told about their sins but not enough people know about God's love or his power to give u power to get out of ur situation.......I guess that's my rant !!God bless you !! :-)

Cheri, Would you like to talk about what ponts you disagree with me on? I've been doing some deeper reading, praying and studying of the word lately.

Hi bigenuff, I'm sorry that what I posted wasn't pleasant to you. See, I was on this site back in 2010 for about two years and really got to know alot of people personally who posted here. We used to discuss everything about God and many, many different controversial issues and their relationship to scripture. I stopped posting because I felt God asked me to. When I posted this post,in my mind, it was really meant for those whom I used to converse with back then. They would understand more my meaning for posting what I did. So, I apologize for the abruptness of my topic. I am always willing to talk about God's love and mercy and grace towards mankind, or His wonderful desire to heal us and help us through difficult situations. Here's one: My son was recently diagnosed with lymphoma cancer back in November last year. He was prayed for by thousands and thousands of people for healing and 2 months ago, half way through his treatments, he had a PET scan that declared he was healed and is now free from the cancer. I give the Glory for that healing to God and Him alone! It's nice to meet you, and God bless you, too. Patty

Just curious an no disrespect but did God give you any insight on Rev. where it talks about a 144,000 going to heaven. An a large crowd will live forever in a Paradise right here on earth. We will grow an we will eat. We will build an we will occupy As mentioned in Isaiah. Or even the Almighties name as found at Psalms 83:18.

Just some thoughts. Nice to see another christian out here

We will grow an we will eat. We will build an we will occupy.

My problem is that I definitely ate what I had grown and then some and I definitely occupied but never unoccupied. Which is why I'm getting the band!

heh. I can tie the band to anything.

Hi Tym4me, The book of Revelations, in chapter 7, speaks of 144,000 people from the tribe of Israel (Jewish people) whom God places a seal upon their foreheads. He seals them to protect them from his coming wrath upon the people on the earth during that time. They are Jewish believers in Jesus during the tribulation period, which is 7 years of terrible times of suffering and it will happen after Jesus returns to take the Christians off the earth. In Chapter 14 it speaks again of the 144,000 when they stand in Zion with Jesus. Zion is Jeruselum, here on the earth. It never mentions that they go to Heaven. People will live on the earth for 1000 years after the return of Jesus. Those 144,000 will live with them also. After the 1000 years are over, God destroys this earth with fire and makes a new heaven and a new earth where believers will live forever. It's never called Paradise, It's called a new heaven and a new earth (Rev. 21:1) You mentioned Psalm 83:18 "That men may know that you, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, are the most high over all the earth." This verse tells of the name of God. God has many names. Jehovah, Jesus, I am, Lord, etc.

Hi patty you bring out some good points although maybe not accurately put. However i come here for my wls so maybe conversing in another way or forum would be appropriate.

I understand from you stating God has many names an using Jesus as one of them that you must believe in the trinity. That could be an interesting discussion

Just my opinion, but none of us own this place and can talk about what we chose to. Every post Pattygreen posts will probably include some reference to our Heavenly Father. It is her post and right to post what she wants here as long as it follows the rules, Isn't that right?

I am a Christian and I talk about praying and healing from God when I feel the need to. Pattygreen is studying and learning new things and she feels led to share them, so she must, or I believe answer for it later. We may not all agree with every word she says but it is her post. Who does agree with every post someone makes?

People who are offended when they read something that includes Christ should just choose another thread to read and post on. She is in the right catagory.

There are a lot of Christians on these foms most all have made reference to God or praying and I have never seen them attacked, so what gives?

In the past Pattygreen had several people who would get into some good, some heated, some mean conversations with them this area is a off topic/debate area.

Just my feeling but I would rather read a post about Jesus than “anal sex”, or “do you still swallow after in band”, or lets see “how to bed a hot chick” and many, many other ones over the past 3 year.

If you read what the topic is and don't like it I say don't read it just like I did not read the above threads and many more.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
