My Daily Goals:

1. Not die. (so far, so good)

2. Eat Slooooowlllly (abject failure, try again tomorrow, unless item 1 becomes a failure).

3. Exercise in some way for thirty minutes (I've chickened out, my back is still troubling me)

4. Feel better about being me. (not doing too bad, I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that "Fat bastard" is becoming less applicable.

(current 202)(total lost 27)(down 2 this week)

Switched to Metformin from Actos this week, may be helping also.

I always blew up like a balloon on Actos. Metformin (Glucophage) is supposed to help you not gain weight and I had so much better results with it.. hope you do too!

Great job, MollyMolly!

Dawg - that 1st goal of yours is a big one for me too!:)

But currently my #1 goal is to lay off the sweets.. My mom died in January and I've been gorging on sweets ever since...

But I'm working hard at getting back on track. Tacking it one day at a time and doing ok.

My daily goals:

1. Curves has my money now. Three days a week, I'm there.

2. I will take my 40 min walking route at least one day a week.

3. I will drink a minimum of 4 bottles of Water a day. That's about 70oz.

4. I will spend 15 min a day decluttering the hotspots in my home.

5. For Lent, I gave up LBT time for prayer, so M-F, for one hour while DS is napping and DD is in school, I will stay away from LBT and spend some time reading my Bible and praying. That has worked well so far, and Lent isn't over, so I'll keep that up.

Hey, I have lost about 5% Body fat since my high weight 2 years ago, how 'bout that?! It's still high, though. Curves will get me strong again. Yay!

Daily goals huh. Hm.

Today, I will only have 2 cups of coffee instead of 4.

Today, I will eat a better lunch than yogurt.

Tonight, I will clean my computer room so I can see the floor again!

This weekend, I will go fill my dad's truck and my mom's car up with gas (dad had a hip restructure 2 weeks ago, and is homebound. My mom doesn't know how to gas!!!)

This weekend, I will clean out the trashmobile...errr...my pretty red car.

My goal this week has been to drink, drink, drink, Water that is. I've been pretty good getting anywhere from 70 to 120 oz. a day. You can't drink too much water, right?

What I really want to work on is the snacking, I feel as if I've done a little better this week with keeping a food journal. Before eating something I ask myself if I really want to write this down in the journal. But I could be losing a lot more if I cut my snacking down.

Todays goals:

Well my day was pretty much trashed due to nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, and fatigue. Lesson for the day? Don't space out taking your Effexor for two days! I'm feeling much better after taking one and sleeping for 2.5 hours.

I will walk on a minimum of 1/2 mile each day. (Nope, couldnt walk 20 feet without sitting down.)

I will drink 64 ounces of Water every day. (Done.)

I will eat my meals at the diningroom table and focus on chewing well and eating slowly. (Success.. every meal.)

When I'm home, I will not sit around and do nothing all day. I will complete at least one project in my home per day. (Done! Sort of.. not physical stuff, but made Dr. appts, haircut appts, etc. Just one more thing marked off my list!)

Just thought I would crash this here thread. Susan and I have been doing the Committment thread thing so I thought I would see what is going on in here. So here is my day.

Today the meal plan went soooooooooooo far out the window it ain't even funny. First I had an appt today for a mammogram. EWWW!! Yeah they got squashed today. Second there is this darling Italian restaurant close to the Breast Center so John and I had a little date today. So I had a chicken Lasagna with Mushroom and Tomato cream sauce. Yes I know that was very bad but so worth it for the date. LOL!!

Then paid for it later with a stress headache. Actually I was fighting it off all day. I was stressed big time over the mammogram. I had a spot on my Right breast 6 months ago and this was a follow up appt. I got the all clear though so then the stress hit me. I had to take a min and just relax.

Then I got home and heard from a really good friend of ours that her father is on his death bed and not expected to last through next week. So that brought up alot of emotions I thought were long gone. My father passed away almost 11 years ago now but this brings up all thoses emotions again.

MORE STRESS!!! So I ate McDonald's tonight. Yes shame on me, but ya know what I allowed myself this day. Tomorrow will be better.

Hugs to everyone facing the head demons and surviving one more day.

Heyas Penni! Crash, camp overnight, move in... whatever feels good! Except, be prepared - this group will be tough on ya. Tomorrow, no more self sabatoging girl! Tomorrow, you get back on your Nutrisystem and exercizing or I'll hand you over to the watch dogs of the club. Heather? You out there? Get ready to help me kick Penni's butt if she doesn't get back on track tomorrow! *grins*

Love ya Penni - glad you came on over girl. I'm jealous of your date - but the boobies squishing.. you can have that. Yuck. *hugs*

Warning - check calorie count before eating! I ate over 500 calories worth of pot roast in one sitting yesterday. Sure seemed harmless enough, 6 oz of meat, good protein.. right? Err wrong! 265 calories per 3 ounces! Eeep!

I was starting to wonder if I'm really off track, with no weight loss last week and all. So I started journaling my food again, watching my drinking with meals, etc. and I convinced Dawg to let me weigh this morning so I could get a good idea about what's really going on with me and what I need to adjust. I really didn't expect to lose anything, didn't feel like I had, but I'd lost 2.5 pounds. So I'm feeling not quite so "off" now. How's everyone else's week going? Meeting those daily goals? Saying no to stuff that will sabatoge you? If not, get your butt on here and start talking to the club members. That's what we're here for.

Yup Nutrisystem Breakfast this morning and resisting temptation to pig out on anything and everything. Gonna go eat an apple instead.

Oh by the way, Beef is the highest caloric and fat content of all the meats. I limit my beef drastically. Fish, chicken, Turkey, tuna anything but beef. If you must then only 3 oz.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
