Soon I will start my pre-0p for 10 days. I can have 4 Meal Replacement shakes and 1 meal a day. The meal replacement shakes I've had before are "Wonderslim". I order online from dietdirect.com. The chocolate is very good. The shipping is fast. They have went up in price 11.99 a box of 7. But right now if ordered before May 15 and input the coupon code "SHAKE20" you can get 20% discount off. Plus shipping is free if you order over 49.00. Trust me some of the flavors are good, the chocolate taste like a milkshake no aftertaste. I didn't care for vanilla, to me it had a little aftertaste. The only way I can drink the vanilla is to add a very little orange sugarfree Jello which made it taste like a orange creamsicle. They are 100 calories and 15 grams of Protein with Vitamins and minerals.

What do you mean by one meal a day? I am on a 14 day liquid diet. If I can put it in a blender, I can have it. My surgeon also wants me to have 70-90 grams of Protein per day. I am using GNC Total Lean and it actually taste good.

My one meal aday consist of 1 Protein seriving 150-200 calories, low-starch vegetable 100 cal. 1 starch serving 100 cal and 3 fat servings 120 cal= approximately 500 calories. So its a 4 + 1 meal. 4 shakes and 1 meal

I am May 8th as well just started my pre op and so far so good I prefer the chocolate shake I am so excited to be getting closer

Yay, surgery day twins!

I hate all the Protein Shakes at this point but Pure Protein frosty chocolate isn't bad.

I keep telling myself if I can get through these next few weeks I can get through anything. I truly never thought I could have this much willpower with food, but I am making it.

I am excited for all of us!

I've hear a lot about an Unjury drink that I've never heard of before. I've actually chosen my shake as the Atkins advantage Protein Shakes, the vanilla ones, I've tried the strawberry but I didnt love those at all. Has anyone tried them? And if so has anyone tried the chocolate

I am using them for on the go. My husband has used them for some time as a Meal Replacement. He is a diabetic and they are the best for him. I have tried the chocolate. My favorite is the Mocha Latte.. very yummy. I am going to buy the unjury for at home and use the atkins for my work/office meals. I am in field sales so I am always on the run and for this to work for me I need to be able to pack it to go. I know that this is a huge reason for my weight. I am a fast food junkie. I eat to much on the run of the wrong stuff. Not anymore. I have already started to watch my diet a lot. I don't start liquids till 5/4. My doctor says I can have as many Protein shakes a day that I want and Soup broth. NO fruit, Veggies, or carbs. I can also have a lean chicken breast or fish no skin or major seasonings. From what my nutritional specialist says my Dr. doesn't count the calories at this point he is more concerned about liquids and Proteins getting in. I still don't think it will be easy. I am sure I will be craving all my old favorite foods! hang in there everyone I am not far behind you.

I am scheduled for May 8th. I am new to this forum . . . just became a member yesterday and am still trying to find my way around here. One thing I have noticed as I've read various posts, is it seems many folks were on a liquid diet far longer than I will be. I've not started yet and don't meet with the nutruitionist until Wed, which is less than a week before surgery. Does that seem unusual?

@JIR218 Not at all from all the post I've read. All Doctors are different in their given procedures. So count your blessings, you are truly fortunate to have just a few days to pre-op. Wish that was me!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
