I just wanted to pop in and wish all the May bansters good luck. I was a May banster last year. I will be banded for 1 year on May 4th. ( I won't post my loss yet because I'm trying to reach a goal, but I'll post in on May 4th, just as a record.)

anyway, just wanted to wish you all the best of luck with the band. I know it has been amazingly wonderful for me. This year has really flown by. I can't believe it's been year already. It seems like just yesterday I was kvetching about the liquid diet and the post-op diet.

But really, just keep your chin up, keep plugging away at it. Don't look at the scale for the first month, or if you do look at it, just do it for record keeping purposes and don't get discouraged if it doesn't move for a few weeks. it will eventually move.....and a year from now you will look back and see how far you've come. Best of luck to all of you.

I can't wait to hear about your one year weight loss. When you give us your total weight loss you will have to share some of the ups and downs that you went thru.

I was planning on a week until I seen my surgeon on Wednesday and she told me that she will not release any one any sooner than 2 weeks :o . And than she said that depends how well she thinks the patient is doing. What a bummer' date=' I love working  and I probably sit at a desk 6 hours out of 8. Now I have to sit at home for 2 weeks, I'm going to go crazy and you all are going to be sick  of me.[/quote']

Oh wow...I couldn't imagine being off for 2 weeks! I really don't want to do 3 days but I knw I will prob need @ least that.

Yah! I'm May 11 too! How come everybody's "before" picture looks so much better than mine???

Ok I have to agree with yelorz we all look beautiful with are close ups of our faces showing only. :D How about the weekend before our surgery we post a front, back and side view picture of our selves? :o I guess that means I better get with it since my surgery is scheduled for Wednesday May 2. Be on the look out. I will post when I get my pictures posted. This is some thing I want to do on a monthly basis so I can see the difference any way. I also plan on taking measurements this weekend also.

@angelblessed... Have ur doctor prescribe u CHANTIX to help with smoking

Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

I also strongly agree with Chantix. I think this is a miracle pill. I quit 12 weeks ago last Tuesday and It has really worked for me and my husband. Chantix really made it very easy to quit and I have tried on several occasions before. But chantix really kicked the nicotine in the butt for me.

Started my liquid diet today. So far it's going ok... But I am supposed to have 6-8 8oz servings a day and I've only had one so far. I have a feeling I am going to have to be drinking constantly to get it all in.

Happy Weekend May bandsters! I start my liquid diet on Friday. (5/4). I am scheduled for May 18th for my surgery. I have PCOS so I have been struggling for a long time to loose the 60lbs that I carry with me all the time. I am ordering my Unjury powder today. Hope everyone is staying positive and hanging in there. Who else is a May 18th surgery date?

Day 1 of liquids was going fine til about an hour ago. My mind and body feel weird. Can't explain this feeling. lol

I also told my manager at work today I was getting banded in 10 days. She said it was too drastic and that she doesn't think I need it (she is the same size as me). Frustrating!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
