I think my band slipped *prayers please*

Recommended Posts

I need prayers please.

I am 4 1/2 weeks out and I am fairly certin that my band has slipped.

I think I ate chicken to fast on Friday and for the last 3 days I have pain in my band area and all the way up to my throat and it feels like I have a big lump in my throat

I am back on liquids 100% today Yesterday I ate about 50/50 liquids solids.

I just need your support and hugs. I don't have insurace and to spend the money on to have my band fixed will put a finantual strain on my family.

Thanks

Jen

Hi Jen-

I'm so sorry to hear you are having trouble.

I did want tell you that you should get this checked out as it can be life threatening if left too long.

My story: I started swelling 2 days after surgery. I started vomiting and the band slipped on day 4 after surgery. They did not do the floro test for another 3 days - by that time the band had pinched off a portion of my stomach and caused it to necrose (die). I had emergency surgery and spent 4 days in ICU with a systemic infection as a result.

They can find a slip with a very simple flouro procedure. If you tell the docs that there is a financial concern the hospital may have ways to help you.

In any case, PLEASE do not put your health at risk!!

I am going in on Monday for the same thing. After my 4th fill I have been real tight and PB'd ALOT - everyday, a lot. Now over the past 4 days I've been spitting up some, burping ALL THE TIME, and had some stomach pain. I pray to god it's just too tight and not slipped. I will pray for you too! Let me know tomorrow!

Jen, I doubt you slipped. I think you just very badly irritated your poor pouch and stoma. Any time you have ANY problem, stop eating that meal. then go back on liquids only for at least a day and call your doctor or post here for help. Dry chicken is one of the foods that may not work very well - all foods have to be very moist. you also muct start with tiny bites and chew very well. Hope you'r ok. Please follow the band rules very well, to avoid trouble. Renee

Here's hoping you feel better but I agree with those who believe your band has probably not slipped.

It's never fun to irritate your pouch or esophagus - but since you are such a new pre-op I think it's probably just a case of you overdoing it.

Band slippage is a serious occurence but I believe (and I'm hoping) this is just irritation. PLEASE let us know what your doctor says. We'll be here for you.

Happy Band Journeys to all.

I'm not slipped thank god. Now they just have to figure out why I'm hurting, burping, and PBing on everything even though the bariums swallows shows me being relatively oen.

OH THAT IS EXCELLENT NEWS.

These tricky little suckers can really act up - but if it's in place then hopefully your doc will be able to help you do better with it.

Good Luck and Happy Band Journeys To All...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
