Have you talked to your Dr about the throat feeling? Did they put Fluid in the band at surgery?

I have read that this feeling of "what did I do?" is common after WLS. Just think towards the future and the real reasons you got this.

I had that around day four but 30 lbs down? How could fixing my health be a bad idea?

Don't give up Girl! You can do this. About a month before my surgery I was trying to wrap my head around this thing, so I wrote a very embarrassing two page letter to myself. It is all the negative things that I need to remember of why I got banded. I always heard that if you put your thoughts on paper it helps, also when I get down I can pull it out of hiding to reread it to "keep it green" Personally I'm not going to all this trouble to give up easy. I knew this thing was going to be more mental then anything. That is why I'm on this site, to get that support from my peers ( other lap band patients)

Hang on, Fight for yourself, You can do it!!!!!

i think we all go thru that at one point. my "what the hell did i do" moment hit the second i woke up from surgery. but i can tell you this is not an easy road, but soooo worth it. this time last year i was in 18/20's and today i shopped on the "regular" side of the store and have be barred from Lane Bryant cuz their clothes are too big for me! it is worth it!!!! feel free to PM me anytime

mandagay.. hang in there.. you are going through a real down period and it wont last. just try and concentrate on all the positives. Talking about putting things down on paper... why dont you do two sections on paper and write down all the positives that will be happening for you.. against the negatives?? give yourself time to really be honest about it all. im sure that the positives will well and truly win out for you.

im already having such a tremendous relief from pain and swelling in my feet and lower legs and the same huge benefits and more besides are coming to you as well. Try and look at the positives. i understand how down you must feel.

sometimes this does happen, being down and depressed after any surgery, ive been there and dont it many times before so i know.(about 20 surgeries since i was 15 )

what you have had done is potentially life changing and for the better... so try and look on the brighter side. bless you.

I, too had that moment. I was getting in bed with my husband who I love dearly and it hit me. I want to be healthy but I also want to feel sexy at the same time. So, as i put my sleep mask on (UGH) and looked at my incisions, I thought wth did I do. Now that I am losing weight, and enjoying small achievements-I know that I did the right thing. Everyone has to decide what they are willing to sacrifice. This is my sacrifice and I plan to make it work. Is it and will it be tough at times-absolutely but so is anything that is worth having. Give yourself some more time. Everything will get better. Look at your small achievments. :D

I remember thinking the third day after my surgery... "what have I done"... then I realized my acid reflux was gone.

I had suffered from acid reflux since I was 14 and it went away soon after I was banded.

Take it one day at a time... it does get better.

For me I still get support from other bandsters... I meet a group for coffee every month... and I still get weighed in every month with my family doctor. This keeps me motivated and helps me stay on track and at goal.

Tom, Toronto

Banded July 6 06

Wt. Loss: 140 lbs

Good luck. I have not Been banded yet and I am having second thoughts. I look so fat in pics though and its only a matter of time before the health issues come. Stay strong. You can do it.

In the grand scheme of things having a few small incisions which will fade over time to me is far more preferable than stretch marks and rolls of fat, and that doesnt even go anywhere near the health benefits side of this. Never lose sight of why you had the band done in the first place. Its very easy to look back with rosy coloured specs on and think 'things werent that bad before i got banded'.

I have the cloudy day lap band blues here in Los Angeles today. But let me tell you it cheers me up to know my struggle is onward and upward unlike last year when I would comfort myself with food and end up in that disasterous cycle.

Good Luck to you. Remember its something we all go through in all our different ways but this is a place we can ask for help and support without shame and without judgement.

Lots of luck and good energy being sent your way.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
