Okay anybody out there taking CRESTOR the cholesterol-lowering medication? I am taking it, did not want to but Dr would not take no for an answer. This stuff is killing me. What about you? Have you found anything that helps the side effects? I did good the first 4 or 5 months now the muscle pains are so terrible. My Dr swears it is the best and wants me on it

I would go on the net, find the side effects list of that drug then go present your doc with your evidence :) if u cant change docs. i know my doctor is really grateful that i sometimes investigate a problem and take her the results as she often doesnt have time to do that herself ..Doctors arent always right !

You know my opinion on it already.

Yes I do and I am thinking your were very right. It was hell the first three day and then It went away. I have been doing good until my depression got really bad and stopped pushing myself to work out so much and so hard.(Last 2 weeks) I know working out is good for depression but that is if you can get yourself up to do it.

Anyway I think I was working out so much that it stoppped the muscle pains as they were too tired to hurt (what?) but thats what I think. I want to stop taking it before but from what I read they are all the same. That Zeta or whatever it's name is almost took my life. Then came the Crestor.

The problem for me is my friend who is 53 in good health eats lots of veggies had a “A Widow Maker” which is a nickname used to describe a highly stenotic left main coronary artery. He was dead for 5 minutes before they brought him back to life. This is my best friend's husband and her younger son had to do CPR on his dad till help got there. He tells me do not stop taking the Crester. He has made the papers and probably some journals as the say only 1% of people survive this and in 6 months his heart is back working 100% unheard of never happens. God is good. That scared me good but now it seems to be all falling apart

I looked up all the these drugs same side effects as the CRESTOR. Just do not know what to do. When the depression lifts I can hit the workouts so hard maybe I won't notice it. But when I get out of bed I feel about 80 years old. the pain in my hips, arms and legs make me walk funny. When you have bad depression first place you do not want to get out of bed and now when I do I have aged 30 years (OMG 30 years and I am gonna be 80 OMG!)

I do not want to change my Dr as he also regulates my depression and anxiety med and it is hard to find a Dr. would wants to work with you to get things right, but he will not budge on this issue. What to do what to do?

Do you mind if I ask what dosage and for how long?

Cheri you need to find a Dr that listens to you. Muscle pains can be an indication of rhabdomyolysis and this is really serious.

http://www.medicinenet.com/rhabdomyolysis/article.htm

If you are in lots of pain then it should not be ignored. Statins may and probably do save lives but they can also cause severe side effects, your Dr SHOULD NOT just be writing this off.

I take Crestor and Zetia and fortunately have noticed no side effects. My endocrinologist asks about muscle pain at each office visit, but I have never experienced any.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
