Help...post Op Grocery List...

Recommended Posts

I'm going to be off for 6 weeks! I'm an RN in the NICU, and although my babies weigh nothing my doc doesn't want me to move the heavy beds, ventilators, and he wants me to learn to eat and drink at home since I can't leave a critical baby if I get stuck. I feel lucky.

I don't know how you and others return to work so fast.

hey I got your email about the v8 juice....I actually had asked my doctor about them as well. He said he would recommend the Tomato base v8 for after post op it is very acidic ......but I could try them a few weeks later and see how my stomach reacts....he said some patients aren't able to drink them but if I tolerated them after week 4 I could have them.

Girliegirl- I have not informed everyone. Close family, a couple of friends. I could count the number on my hands. Not sure how I feel about it. It depends on who's asking. Working with 100 women who can all see my schedule, everyone is asking. The work rumor is that I'm pregnant for whatever reason and have hyperemesis and BP problems again. That's just weird. I let most of them think whatever. The truth will come out, I'm just not ready for any negative comments. Are you telling people?

Girlie- oh yeah. I echo what waitingpatiently says. Nothing acidic at first. I have never had a V8 so I guess it's not an issue with me. Have you tried different Protein Shakes?

I have only told my immediate family, and 2 coworkers that I trust.. So am not ready to have ppl being negative.. After surgery I can deal with, not before,

I just saw a YouTube video with the girl stating she have V8, So I was curious b/c no one else has mentioned it. Never had v8 before guess down the line I might try it. I am not on a diet before surgery, except for the day before all liduid diet.. Mg surgery at 7 am. What about you?? Getting anxious?? Are you worried about Easter, u know family gathering with lots of food..., I know my Easter will be a nightmare, my family has a big get together. And I have so many niece and nephews there will be sooooo much chocolate, ughhhh

I'm not worried about Easter this year. From what I have been reading we won't feel like eating at that time anyway. Plus we usually have a big get together but not this year. We are supposed to go to my in laws (yuck) so to me, it's PERFECT timing. Lol. Even my husband is thankful.

Anxious? Yes. Excited? Yes.

I'm even really nervous for my pre op diet. I've never done an all liquid diet and am just hoping my willpower will hold up. I'm thankful we have a pre-op diet though. It will give me a head start so to speak.

My husband has been very supportive. Thank goodness. Do you have enough support? My email address is smmrsue@gmail.com if you need anything :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
