I have been doing pretty well since surgery. I don't feel any restriction but I am really strict with how much I eat, so I am still loosing weight. For lunch today I had 3oz of canned chicken breast with a tbs of miracle whip, exactly what I had yesterday. Not even 15 minutes after eating, I thought I was going to die! I was having EXTREME stomach cramps, and was doubled over! Luckily I had my prep period (I am a teacher), so I had no students in the room. I literally ran down the hall, and luckily I made it! I never felt anything like that ever! I got a little nervous, so I called the dietician and she said I just experienced Early Dumping. She said I probably ate too fast and it just went right through! It was crazy. I just laughed! She told me if it happens again I needed to call her because it can cause problems. I was so scared to eat dinner, but I got my 3oz of lean hamburger in Tomato sauce down, and no dumping! Geez the stuff that happens without warning!

Just thought I would share!

Never heard of dumping with the band, it is usually a consequence of a bypass. This seems very strange.

Did you just have the band or another procedure with the band. Dumping is not part of the band.

Do you still have your gallbladder?

I had dumping symptoms years ago before being banded...had to get my gallbladder removed.

So glad that pain is gone. If you still have yours, I'd get it checked.

Dumping is usually caused by the lower part of the stomach being missing and too much sugar. If you are having these symptoms, it is very unlikely that it is from the band. Someone else suggested gall bladder issues which will cause similar symptoms. If not that then more than likely you could have some sort of virus. I would have this checked if it continues.

You have dumping with bypass because you can no longer digest certain things. With the band you have your entire stomach....so maybe this is your gallbladder? Many people have to have it removed after weight loss surgery.

I am just repeating what I was told by a medical professional, but I guess there are other opinions! I was just sharing a comical experience. Oh well!

"Regular" people can experience dumping-like symptoms. My surgeon says band patients who've experienced it before may experience it after. But not because of the band. I've gotten dumping symptoms all my life.

Really?! Hm, didn't know this! Is it because of a person's gallbladder then?

It is a rapid emptying of the stomach, for whatever reason. Here's a link with further info:

I have experienced similar situations and my gall bladder is long gone. Before surgery the only time I ever experienced it was after eating Breakfast at dinners. Not sure if if was due to the fat used in the cooking or the high suger content of pancakes/syrup. Anyway I believe you. I wonder when we eat it speeds up our digestions. I don't think it's the food you just ate; rather food that's been traveling along and some hormone released when the stomach starts producing digestive juices. Just a laymans' idea. I am not a medical professional.

I agree with you. I don't think it is what I ate, since I had it in previous days. I just think the time and how fast I ate added to an experience I will never forget! :P

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
