....Also, you can add a couple of packets of splenda if you need to sweeten it up.

Chobani greek yogurt has 22 grams of Protein per half cup. 1/2 cup of greek yogurt' date=' 1/2 banana, 3 or 4 strawberries handful of ice, splash of milk or Water, blend and strain, YUM!!! I hate the grittiness of the Protein Powder and it is expensive. You can do almost any flavor with the plain greek yogurt. Good luck![/quote']

That is a awesome idea. Didn't think of that. I love Greek yogurt! They told me I couldn't add fruit but even w/out fruit I think making it myself is better.

I tried Unjury' date=' mixes awesome! The chicken Soup is wonderful, vanilla is good and strawberry Sorbet is ok but the last two smell so I just hold my breath while I take a sip. lol Pure Protein is doable, not the greatest, maybe will try mixing it with something next time. unjury sells individual packs to try and also has a sample package, they have chocolate items too, I just don't like chocolate. Good luck![/quote']

I'm gonna pick up some of these today. Hope I can find them. I have major issues w/ smells too:). If it smells bad it's a no Bueno for me:)

I used/use GNC's Lean shakes, they're the best tasting out of everything I tried. They have the powder but, I bought the premade bottled ones. It's only like $6 for a 4 pack I think or $14 for a 12 pack. They have vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. IMO the strawberry is amazinggggg and the vanilla is pretty good too! They only have 170 calories, 2 gm sugar, and 25 gm protein! And they smell like a milkshake unlike the other things I tried -_-

Goodluck!

I really like the unjury- I drink a chocolate splendor with skim milk, or a scoop of their vanilla mixed with trop 50 orange juice (tastes like an orange julius) every morning for Breakfast. Try the sampler packet- i think you have to order online, I didn't see that brand in stores. I tried one from Wal-mart my dr's office recommended, and it was so gross. I do think I'll try a few from GNC too, but will stick with the unjury if I don't find something at the store I like.

I would recommend some type of blender/mixer thing, it really helps with the grittiness. I use an immersion blender, and just bought a blender ball container from amazon- it's a container with a little metal mixing ball- I thought it might be good for travel.

Good luck, as someone else said it truly is a personal thing!

I use Body Fortress Protein powder mix. I buy it at Walmart, it's around $15 for a 2 lb container. They have chocolate, Vanilla, strawberry, Cookies & Cream, and Chocolate Peanut Butter. I've tried all except the Peanut Butter one. They are the only ones I can tolerate (taste-wise) on a regular basis. I'm 8 1/2 mo out from surgery but still often start my day with a Protein Shake. Their website has a lot of great ideas for shakes using their powders. I tried at least 5-6 other kinds and they all tasted gross to me. They have 26 g protein per scoop and I usually mix them with 6-8 oz skim milk.

I use Target brand. It's cheap. I buy the vanilla and chocolate there. I really like it. But I also love the unjury products. Unjury has many flavors. The unflavored was nasty but the chocolate was good. I mixed instant coffee into the vanilla and froze it to make a fake mocha. Very tasty. Loved the strawberry. Mix it with a packet of Crystal light lemonade and it's delicious. The chicken Soup is also very good. I keep it around for when I get fills. It makes me feel like I'm eating. They also make a Protein cheese sauce that's really good. You can order a sample box from unjury which is really nice.

I think the key is to experiment. Everyone likes different things and we all have different tastes. You have to find what tastes good for you since you'll be drinking it for a long time. Just play around and find your favorites.

Can i take the herbal life shakes ??

Every doctor has their own idea of which shakes to use. My doctor gave me a piece of paper that said the shakes have to meet these requirements, and listed them off. My advice is to ask your doctor which shakes or what they expect. Then go from there and experiment.

Based on the recommendations I read here, I bought the Premier Nutrition High Protein chocolate shakes the last time I was at costco. I wanted a grab-and-go shake because I didn't want to have to take time to blend a shake it the morning. I'm picky about Protein Shakes and thought it tasted fine. Not great but fine. I wish Costco had other flavors available.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
