Everyone is different. I didn't feel restriction till about the 4th fill. Right now you are going through bandster hell. Chill and let your body heal. Congrats and God bless...you will get there.

Philup, I had my first fill 2-1 and I hate needles. It wasn't bad at all. He put in 2cc and I thought I was feeling true restriction but found out you will be swollen after. I don't have much restriction yet, am scheduled for my 2nd fill 3/5 for another 2cc. Sometimes I get hungry within 4 hrs of eating, I try to eat my Protein first to stop my snacking.

Did you lose all 36 pounds since surgery or was some of it pre-op weight loss. I had my surgery on the 19th of Jan. and I am down 20lbs. You are doing great!

Most dont feel much different after the first few fills, you may be lucky and feel some restriction or you may not, so keep up the great work you are doing and be patient it might take 4 or 5 fills to get the right amount in your band :)

It's not a gaurentee you will get a fill. MY Dr. weighs me in, checks the difference from last visit, divides by # weeks to determine how much I have lost per week.....if it is good, then NO FILL.

It's all about loosing weight !! Although he can also be concerned about hunger cravings too.

My laqst fill was last May. Have had acceptable weight loss every month since then, up untill last month. Then he gave me a very little fill as maintence. Next time I see him, in April, I may ask to have that taken back out.

I am not a big fan of needles either but it's really not a big deal. Some doctors give a numbing shot first but mine did not. Took me 6 months to get restriction so it may take several fills. Sorry not trying to be a downer. Talk to the doctor/nurse about what your diet should be immediatly following the fill. Most want you to do full liquids for 24 hours and then mushies for the next 24.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
