Abdominal Pain....gas?

Recommended Posts

I am almost 4 weeks post-op. Weight lose is going good but just a few days ago I started getting very bad abdominal pain. I was already having gas pressure/discomfort. I was using gas x strips and it helped a little as the days went by the pain was getting worse so I tried the chewable gas relief thinking it would help. For the last 2 days now it doesn't feel like the same gas pain. The pain is in my upper abdomen on the right and left side. My left side hurts more. I have to brace myself to when I take deep breaths. The pain is similar to the pain after you run and just feels like a stabbing pain, when you try to breath. In the day prior to this major pain, my muscles felt like they were tightening and it would come and go. I walk around hunched over and sometimes it hurts when I burp. I exercise but nothing strenuous yet and have started any ab routines. It's Sunday, today and I plan on calling my doc first thing Monday. Luckily, I have some pain meds left over from surgery. That seems to be the only thing helping me tolerate it. I was just wondering if this is normal and if anyone else has gone through this. Any suggestion would be helpful...

Thank you, Nat

Mine was Constipation, did not realize all that Protein sticks to your inners, now I keep milk of magnesia near by and surprized everytime I do use it. Dr let me have my pribiotics again, but when I do get those pains - it is that.

When I think about it now, I am putting food in but nothing coming out. Figured my body needed/wanted to "hold on" to the nutrition. I do keep milk of magnesia close by. Gonna try at once! Thank you for the input.

I experience some stomach discomfort but my head starts hurting its what I notice more and want to take care of , before I had the lapband I always made sure I was regular, its gonna be even more important, and yes Proteins don't come out easy. Right now I will eat some applesauce and that helps ALOT when its been a day or two, but Im gonna look at other stuff, to keep me regular daily. All these learning experiences......... wacko.png

I've lost 33 lbs, and my face is clearer, I can sleep on my stomach more comfortably sleep apnea very rare. Once I get my food cycle situated where Im eating and its comfortable Im gonna get out of my comfort zone (sofa) and start my walking again.

Good luck everyone, lets go forward!

Nat, if MoM doesn't help DO call your doctor, I had the same type of pain. Turned out my diverticulois developed into diverticulitis. It really is very painful. Take care!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
