Benefits Of Flouroscopy Guided Fills?

Recommended Posts

Hi fellow Bandsters! I am scheduled to have Lap Band surgery March 1st! Yay :) I am leaving state for my procedure, but want to find follow up care including fills here in KC. I am searching docs and found that some use flouroscopy and barium swallow routinely, and others don't. Obviously the x-ray guided fills are more expensive, but I'm wondering which fill approach got u into the "green zone" quicker? I'd rather pay more for a more accurate fill than to go several times (wasting more time and $) to play the guessing game. What are your experiences using both approaches in the first couple months following surgery? Thanks in advance!

I have only had fills under fluro. There are multiple places tha advertise $50 fill-- scares me to trust my 10k equipment to a fill center. My surgeon only does by fluro- check the band, tubing, port... Its $250 but I want to see it. I'm going for my first unfill tues-- hate to pay $250 to remove 0.5 cc and that's life.

Ugh! That sucks! It's $250 here too, but $150 WITHOUT flouro. I guess I'll go for the extra $100 so I KNOW what's going on!

I have never had a fill using fluro and think it's not needed unless they are checking for a problem or something.

I had a fill during surgery and then reached the green zone with 2 fills post-op. I did not pay for any of those fills as they were included in my self-pay total. The weight melted off me ....100 lbs in the first year. I've had a couple very tiny "tweek" fills since. I go in about every 10-12 months for a tiny fill to keep my sweet spot........never under fluro.

Sweet! Talked to my surgeon today, and he says the Water method is fine. He uses it bcuz he says when u start to ferl restriction with water, u KNOW it's gonna restrict food even more! Seems like either is okay, just a matter of preference. I just can't wait to get this show on the road!

I have only used the Water method also, and has worked grat for me plus i really dont think that any extra radiation is good for you unless you really need it.

Ugh! That TOTALLY sucks! I decided to fo my first fill with the fluoro. I just wanna see everything and check it all out, especially since the local doc doing my fills is a different doc than doing the surgery.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
