Hello all I just wanted to give an update, I was banded 3/6/12 and had (up until this am) 8.5cc in a 14cc band. I was having great restiriction and was in my "green zone" When I weighed in this AM i was officially at the 50lbs down mark!

Unfortunatly I also got the news this AM that I have a slipped band :( I got stuck on a grilled cheese sand last night (only had about 2 - 3 small bites. Then proceeded to throw up a few times before heading to bed. I knew something wasn't right because I had a weird pain around my port area that I have never experienced before, I figured I would sleep it off and call the Dr in the AM if I didn't feel better. Well sure enough this AM I couldn't even keep fliuds down, got to the Drs at 9, he drained my band and had me do a barium swallow, and it had slipped! I now have my revision scheduled for tomorrow morning at 10am. Another night in the hosp and I have to start the whole slow process of getting back to my green zone. I now wish I had called the Dr right away and not "slept on it" I might have been able to avoid surgery!

I hope you all are doing well, and wish me luck tomorrow!!

im so sorry you had this happen to you... but it does show how we need to be mindful of things that go on. i hope you are feeling better now as you would be home and recovering.... thanks for sharing. judy

Just want to share something.......since being banded in March I have lost about 31 pounds I have struggled a bit but am happy with myself. But what I am excited about is that I got on a plane yesterday and for the first time in over 10 years I did NOT have to wear a seat belt extender, woohoo what a great feeling I can't even tell you :)

Hi March band buddies, I haven't checked in with ya'll in awhile. I was banded march 21. I have 3cc in 10cc band( only 2 little fills ) I am down 33 Ibs since surgery and 38 Ibs since my 10 day preop diet. I can't exercise at all because of knee pain. In one week I will have knee surgery and after recovery I plan to start pool exercises. I am really pleased with my progress with my band. My bmi is 33 now....can't wait to be overweight instead of obese....it won't be much longer. I am now losing about one lb a week. That is very good for me.

How are the rest of you? MelVan

I was banded march 8 and it started out good. The first 2 weeks I lost 12lbs. Now I've had my fourth fill, I'm at 41/2ccs and I'm taking phentermine along with the band because I still feel hungry after I've eaten & the hunger comes too often. I just wish it would be affective like it suppose to be. But I'm happy that I'm 50lbs lighter but my band doesn't get that recognition, the pills does...

I was banded March 20 and am cruising right along :) I love my band and even though sometimes we don't agree, it's meant to be.

I have somewhere between 4 and 5cc in my band and don't think I will go in for a fill for awhile. I have had some PB episodes since the most recent fill (including on a drink... how is that possible?!) and actually feel good where I am.

I have lost over 50 total, about 20 pre-op.

MelVan... i just want to say good luck with your knee operation. Im sure you will be really blessed to find out how much more you can do after the replacement. ive had both my knees done. The only think i find i cant do is kneel.... thats a problem sometimes but i get around it. On average Ive been losing about 1 lb a week... the last couple of weeks ive slowed more but ive got another fill coming up sept 5th. I would love to have a swimming pool close to where i live. the sea is way too cold for me now.

Judych, thanks so much for your well wishes. My knee surgery is scope to repair 2 tears and micro fracture to build scar tissue where I have no cartiledge. The recovery time is 6 weeks and this is supposed to last a few years before knee replacement is done. When I can exercise again or at least walk without pain and walker, my weight loss should improve.

I wish you had a pool close too. I have one at my house which I can not get in because of knee. Such a waste but I enjoy looking at it. I live 2 blocks from the Atlantic ocean and I never go. Too hard to walk. The Water is warm here in south Florida. My life will change soon I hope. The new me will be an island girl beach babe. Ha.

Thanks again for your kind supportive answers to bandster posts. MelVan

I had my surgery March 21st and was very unhappy with my results and had my doctor do a big fill on Monday. This morning i went in for a sligt unfill because i really could not swollow Water for 2 days. Today i have about 4.5 in my band and drinking water comfortably. I am a slow looser and have only lost 16lbs.I am self pay i did not have a pre op diet to follow and my liver was in good condition. So all in all I am happy with my progress and at this rate i will be in Wonderland by the end of the year. Slow and steady wins the race. I went thru True Resluts Dr. Richard Carter and if any of you live in the Dallas Fort Worth area and need a good doctor for follow ups Dr. Carter is the best in the business. Good luck to you all.

I would suggest going to the surgeons tab on the main page and searching for one in that area. Also, you could ask your current surgeon if they have any recommendations of someone in that area.

dquoiya I am in the SAME EXACT boat as you! I was banded March 9 ... and I'm down a total of maybe 12-15 lbs (the scale keeps going up and down for the last month) ... I exercise pretty hard 3 days a week. I take in about 1200-1300 cals a day. I'm gonna try and limit my bad cards (bread, potatoes, pasta) and see if that helps jump start this weight loss. I go on a cruise in 6 weeks and I really want to look my best! so wish me luck everyone!!! dquoiya hang in there!

Was banded on March 20th. My pre-surgery weight was 265 and I now weigh 225. Not many people have noticed that I have lost weight. I think it will be really noticeable in about 20 more pounds. I think I have finally reached the green zone with 6.5 cc in a 10 cc band. Before my last .5 cc fill, I could eat a lot at dinner time. Now, I am unable to eat more than 2 cups of food at the most. In the morning, I can only tolerate a yogurt. I have to eat one spoonful every 5 minutes or I will throw it up. For lunch, Soup is pretty much the only thing that I can eat. I don't have a lot of time to eat lunch because I am a school librarian. I am sure I could eat more if I could eat more slowly. For dinner, I very rarely eat more than 1 1/2 cups of food. Before my last fill, I could eat tortillas and some bread products (crescent roll), but now I cannot eat them or I will throw up. I am still learning what foods I can and cannot eat and the amounts. Sometimes, I am hungry but no more food will go down. Although I am happy that I recently got a kickstart to losing weight, I do not like to eat anymore. It is a pain in the butt and a huge chore to find stuff that I can tolerate. Anyone else hate eating now?

I was banded on march 13th and am down 60 lbs already ! This really was the best decision I could have ever made. I look at myself in the mirror and still don't think that it's me looking back lol . I can't Belive that everything is back to normal and to be honest I'm so used to my band that I forget that I have it sometimes lol . I can't wait to see how much more I can lose I have about 40 more to go but to be honest I don't know if I need that much more ... Im very happy with my body at this point !! I hope everyone is doing great as well !!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
