  1. 1. After losing weight, do you still feel heavier/lighter than you really are?

    • Yes - my image of myself is totally warped!
    • No - I see myself the way my clothes and scale tells me I am

Thank you for feeling the way I feel!!!! Some days I feel like i'm 250+ pounds again, anxiety about booths, or ppl looking at me when I walk into a food joint! then days I look into a mirror and my face looks like skin and bones, but I feel fat. I still have 30 or so lbs to go and I too have ppl telling me to stop loosing weight! I've never felt certain bones in my body before and I've never been the size I am as an adult! But there are still those days that creep up and I feel like Jaba the Hut!!!

I have only lost 38 pounds so far, but I lost 80 pounds before and still felt obese. I was talking with my dh about this and he has a theory. It will take as much time as you were obese to feel skinny. So in my case, I have been obese for 15 years, so it will take 15 years after I lose weight to feel skinny. It seems to make sense to me, what do you all think?

I haven' t lost a lot so far but have dropped a couple of sizes in clothing. I don't know about others but i have a huge range of sizes in my closet from yo yo dieting over the years. Never could get rid of the smaller sizes as I was keeping them for "one day". Many I have not been able to fit into for years. The other day I was cleaning out my closet and looked at a dress and thought I would try it on for fun never thinking it would fit and not only did it but it was loose.

I have been this way my whole life too, even when i was young and relatively thin I thought that I was way bigger than I actually was.

I lost alot of weight on Phen Fen a years ago. I was a size 8 and still felt fat. After I gained it all back and went back and saw those pics I was shocked at how thin I really was. People ask me all the time how much more I'm going to lose. I still feel soooo fat. But I know I looked fine at a size 8 and will be happy when I get there, (and I will get there) I don't know why we have such a hard time with body image, but that maybe one of the reasons we allow ourselfs to regain, cause we never felt that we were a good size so what did it matter. We already were fat in our mind so our body just followed along. Maybe. I just think it's a very important part of our struggles.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
