Where are all the Michigan people at??

Recommended Posts

Those of you in Jackson, near Jackson, etc... There's a support group in Brooklyn, MI but it's not specific to Bandsters. It's for all Bariatric patients I believe.

We could certainly start one though. I'm about 30 miles from Jackson. I'm about 10 miles south of Chelsea, in a town called Manchester.

Where would a central location for all of us be?

I am about the same distance from Chelsea as you are except I'm north, in gregory. Maybe we can get together in Chelsea some time. My e-mail is my user name at Yahoo.com. Feel free to e-mail me any time. Any one else too, who would like to meet up.

I used to work in Manchester (when you were about 1 year old:biggrin:) and lived in Brooklyn. I live all the way over in Coldwater now.:smile2:

Anyone over here near Coldwater?

Bob, I lived in Coldwater for two years. I was not happy there... lol...

BBK, Grass Lake would work for me. How about you Kirajh? Grass Lake is about a 20-25 minute drive for me. Where in Grass Lake would you suggest, BBK? I'm not too familiar with the area.

I live in Tecumseh and would also like to meet with some fellow banders in the area. Meeting in Chelsea or Grass Lake works fine for me. Just let me know when and where.

Thanks. Leah

I'm from Michigan. My boyfriend was banded November 10, 2006 by Dr. Deol. He's lost about eighty pounds, but is now "stuck" and can't loose anymore weight. He is at his maximum fill of 10cc's. He can't get anymore fills or he will be totally restricted. The band is still in place. He's frustrated as well as I am. Has anyone had a road block like this?

There is a cardinal rule for weight loss. "calorie counting" For a woman

its 1200 to loose, 1500 to maintain, and 1800 to gain. He should check with his Dr., or go on line and do some research in calorie counting for men. This will help, I can't say how much,,, I'm not a DR..

I try to stay between 700-900 myself. It still takes time. Good Luck.

Julia thanks! You beet me to it. I'll be there. Have you been to the 50 and over gang. I got on about 5 days ago. This site jumps. I've not seen one jump like that before. They even have step by step instructions on how to get your Ticker up. Finally got mine up. Took me a long time, but it.s done. See you at the meeting. What time?

Shirley...

Shirley,

I believe the meeting starts @ 6:30 PM. I've not gone to the 50+ thread, but I have gone to the 70.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
