Hi Josette,

Congrats on your consult in a couple of weeks! I'm glad that you were able to come up with an a different route, I felt bad for you when it didn't work out with Dr Deol. I'm hoping that the costs won't be as restrictive for you. I'm not sure what your surgeon will do but I imagine it's all pretty much the same, he'll tell you everything you want to know about our buddy, the band, and answer all your questions. He might do a little exam also. I'll bet you'll come out of it all pumped up, raring to go! If they didn't tell you to bring anything, I would judt make sure to have all your information and numbers. Good luck to you, let us know what happens, k?

~Joe

Hi Josette i was looking at some threads and read your story, I went to port huron to a seminar in oct they were up front on things insurance may or may not cover to make a long story short after five months post opp. including all co-pays and deductables to date, out of pocket is less then $675.00

i had one meeting with a conseller, one meeting with dr.Bhesania and then on january 17,05 he did the surgery and its been great.

good luck josette I hope all works out for you as well

T.L.

Hi Ladies,

I am from Whitmore Lake MI. I am new to all of this, and would like to know if you are charged every time you go for a fill? Is this not included in your office visit?

I have my consult with Dr. Boutt on June 15th. I'm very excited about it. They said it takes a couple hours. Any advice on what I will be doing? Anything I should bring? How long after that till my surgery do you think?

Yeah for you!! Firstly, they will schedule your surgery while you're there...as soon or as long as you want it. The first option they gave me was 2 weeks away. They will completely work with your schedule.

Firstly, I was weighed in and b/p check, followed by talking with Dr. Boutt for 10-15 minutes Q & A format, then i met with a nurse who talked about the risks and benefits involved, including costs and insurance info. After that I met with Sue, the nutritionist who did an eval and gave some pointers. ...then, my buddy and I went out for lunch, shopping at the nifty arts and crafts stores, and came home :girl_hug:

You might want to take a pen and notebook...be prepared with any questions or concerns you may have.

i hope this helps. Again, i am soo excited for you!:clap2:

What days of the week did you guys get banded and how long before you were ready to go back to work? I have an office job so I was thinking about trying to get a Friday and then coming back to work Monday or Tuesday. What do you think?

Josette, I don't remember which day of the week I was banded but I was one of those people who needed a full week before I felt up to doing much. I was tired all the time, and even needed a nap through week two. I know that there are people on here who were shopping the day after banding, but you probably want to give yourself a little extra time off in case you need it.

Martha - howdy! I'm right down the road from you in Pinckney. Where are you being banded? I'm not sure how my fills get billed. Since my doc doesn't use fluroscopy I think they just bill it as an office visit. My insurance covers them completely once I reach my deductible.

Josette, i was banded Thursday, took Friday off, was planning on returning to work Monday, but ended up taking it off on because of the pinched nerve in my neck/shoulder. Went back to work Tuesday (desk job also), and did great...not everyone can do that...only you know you!

Janski,

I have family in Merrill!! Not too much info, but since there are a million, do you know the Horny's, Siler's, and Breternitz's?? All mine!

Gosh, i just thought...what if you are one of them??!! :)

Everyone in Michigan have a safe storm season!

HI, I am from Michigan too, Traverse City. I am looking at having surgery

probably with Dr. Kuri. My insurance won't pay so I will have to be self pay and Mexico is probably the only way I can afford to do it. I am looking for fill doctors in Michigan. Who is Dr. Deol, where is she located?

Does she take patients who have had surgery in Mexico? I would be very

interested in hearing from Michigan people and any help you can give me

regarding getting a fill doctor. Any idea what she charges? Thanks, Trudy

Hi Josette,

No I haven't had any problems. I really pay attention during "the week of" thou. If I'm going to PB it will be that week. Sometimes it makes not sense when I pb but usually I know why. Only a month away from a year. Glad 40 lbs is gone. It may be slow but It's my race I'm running. I'm glad it doesn't come back. I thought I would have to go back on the year anniversery to run some tests but he said I'll see you in 2-3 months. I said perfect w/contruction and gas close to $3.00. He is happy with my progress.

Hello, I am from Michigan, near Traverse City. I am looking at Dr. Deol, and Dr. Bhesania in Port Huron. I don't know if I have the 12 consecutive months of a supervised weight lose plan Blue Cross/ BS wants so I don't know if my internist will help me get insurance to pay. I am ready to go to Dr. Kuri or Dr. Rumbaut or Dr. Sanchez in Mexico. I am hoping for follow up care with Dr. Deol or Dr. Pleatman for fills but don't know if they will take me if I go to Mexico. Any advice???

I had my surgery in Mexico on 3/26/2006 and Dr. Pleatman is my fill doctor. He did not seem to mind that I had the sugery done in Mexico.

Hi there,

I would highly recommend Dr Rumbaut. In my opinion, they are better than any Dr's here in the US. I was so pleased with my treatment while being down there it still amazes me! As a matter of fact, one of the ladies in our same group of lap band patients that week is a Physician in Ohio, she told me personally that she had researched for a long time and decided to go with Rumbaut. As far as aftercare, I am going to try Dr. Pleatman. His secretary has been awesome and very helpful. As soon as I feel ready for a fill, that is where I will probably go. The only other place in my opinion for fills would be back to Monterrey. Hope that helps.

Kim

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
