I am only 5 months out and I still get shoulder pain especially if I eat to much. My Dr. said I t's referred pain coming from the diaphragm.

Yep, that's been my experience too. I'm one year out and still get the shoulder pain almost everyday. Being very near my goal weight feels great but I could do without that pain in my shoulder.

I get pain in my left shoulder and sometimes in my neck when I get food stuck. The pain disappears as soon as the food passes through. I really need to force myself to eat more slowly. *kickingmyself*

I went to my Dr last week and asked what signs should I look out for that would indicate a possible slip. One of the ones he mentioned was pain in the shoulder. It happens because the band has shifted and is rubbing on the diaphragm which is then felt as referred pain in the shoulder.

So crystal I would go and see my Dr and get checked to make sure that my band was still in place.

i'm 8 months out and i still from time to time get the shoulder pain. sometimes if i've eaten too much...sometimes i have no idea, but it's annoying as hell! ugh! but if i had to choose between not having it and no band, then i'm choosing the shoulder pain with my band!

I'm getting my Upper GI in the morning. I'm making my dr. appt as soon as I'm done! I intend to get everything checked. Weighing my options to see if I'm keeping it or sleeving, no matter what.

My left shoulder pain started after surgery and I am now 10 month post surgery. It has gotten worse and now radiates down my left side. As a nurse, I have consulted several individuals who believe I either have nerve damage from the surgery or possibly something is wrong with my spleen. spleen problems begin with pain in the left shoulder that radiates down the left side. Possibly my band is pressing against my spleen? Who knows but think I am gonna get a CT to check it out. Anyone else having this type of pain?

I have shoulder pain as well some days it's after eating some not. This week it's been bad. I have a TENS unit for my back that I use on my shoulder it does help. I can also feel like a knot where it hurts, it's getting worse and has me worried that there is something wrong with my band. I was banded in March of 2010.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
