Did I Mess Up Already?

Recommended Posts

I was banded Oct 07 2011. I have had 3 fills. However before my last fill i was finally getting i to my green zone. (i think) however my doctor gave me 1cc more of a fill. BUT now im hungry! I can eat more than i have in a while and i dont stay full. Will my body recognize this last fill. Or did i mess up?

It could take up to 2 weeks for the effects of a fill to present itself. I do 1 day liquids, 1 day mushies, then back to my firm Proteins and veggies. Share you eating and how much?

First and foemost everyone is different and fills affect everyone differently my fills are ALWAYS delayed by at least 2 weeks and I have had several and some have given me restriction and some have done nothing. The hardest part for me along this journey has been to accept that this is MY journey that just because someone has restriction at 2 fills and someone else has restriction at 4 cc and someone else is loosing 10# a month is not necessairly mean that I am a failure because that is not what is happening to me.

I know it is hard and I had to take a deep breathe and RELAX and enjoy the ride and as long as I knew that I was working for the band the band would work for me. This journey is NOT a sprint but rather a marathon loosing 36# in 5 months is NOTHING to be discouraged about that is an average of 7# a month right foot left foot keep doing what you are doing and you will get there.

If we focus on comparing ourselves to others we are going to miss out on the beautiful opportunities that are to be ours and ours alone. Hang in there and keep doing what you are doing, listen to your body you will know if you need to see your doc, excerise and keep a journal and enjoy the ride...

I agree!! It's hard to keep it in mind but it's my band, my life, my journey, my health. I haven't lost much but I've lost. And if I do it right I will continue to lose. I get sad when I compare myself to others but it's my own fight. No one else is exactly like me or has the same issues I do so comparing doesn't help. I know others may have it easier or better than me but some have it harder or struggle more.

My fills are always different. Some I feel right away, some take 1-2 weeks, some last for a day. I never know. I just got up to 7.5 cc. But that can't define me or my success. That may or may not be perfect for me. Only time will tell.

Best of luck to you.

I love this reply! I was feeling kinda down because I seem to have reached a plateau that I am trying to break through. This is a nice motivating post! I don't even ask or keep track of how much I get at fills. I have no idea what size my band is or how much is in it. I do know that last time (my third) I just got a little, I think she said .5. I asked her about the little amount and she said if she was having to put more in she would be concerned that there might be a leak. I'm feeling good restriction and I totally trust her so I'm good with it. It did take me about two weeks to get to the restriction I'm feeling now. Brandi, I don't think you messed up. Just keep on doing what you know is right and soon you will see the results you are looking for!

My doctor doesn't like to tell my how much I have in my band because she said it's just a number and everyone is completely different. After some prodding she told my that I have 3cc's but 'gently' reminded me that it's just a number and not to be comparing it with what others have. Everyone is different and like others have said, this is your band, your journey and your life....

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
