Hi there,

I just talked to my doctors office and my date has been set -- jan 25th! O I'm terrified!!! I could barely breathe or slow my heart at my physical last week...i hadnt had one in 12 years and doctors offices make me panic....how am I going to get through this??

Im a single mom of a 2 year old with no support through this journey. My son will be staying with his dad for 2 days post op and Ill only be taking 4 days off from work, where im on probation and cant be late or leave early in the weeks following surgery or ill be terminated. Im feeling overwhelmed. I hope im making the right choice.

Ive read through all the surgery day stories but would love to hear about surgery and recovery from anyone who hasnt posted yet! Also, recommendations for good tasting Protein is welcome, I dont know where to start. Thanks!

Mary

Hi, I'm Judy.

I buy Body Fortress Advanced whey Protein at Walmart. Don't mind it at all.

Please remember to take your measurements. I didn't and would love to know how many inches I've lost.

Good luck & Good Health.

Can you have the surgeon sign you out on FMLA, so that you will be protected by law if you miss a day from work? My surgeon signed my hubby out for all of my pre-op visits because I have no one else locally to watch my 1 & 2 year old boys.

Congrats on the surgery date!

I feel you! Hi, please try to go into this as a wonderful experience for the rest of ur life. I know its scary! I to am the mom of a two year old I went back to work after 3 days off and I'm a CNA in a senior living facility. My husbands support consisited of driving me home from surgery because he was such an emotional wreck in fear of something going wrong. Please reach out here as much as you want. I don't know what you will go through but for me the worst part was the shoulder pain from the gas. GasX meltaway strips were my best friend, and when my baby was restless yo gabba gabba and angry birds while laying on my side in bed with him did the trick along with coloring books and gluing Beans onto shoboxes just to keep him busy.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
