Lap Band In Two Days

Recommended Posts

I thought I would introduce myself. My name is Erica and I have gastric banding (lap band) in two days. I have almost 130lbs to lose, man that hurts to say. I can't believe I have let my self get this bad. I live in Louisville, KY and my surgeon is Ben Tanner. I am very excited to start this journey. Good luck to everyone!

Hi Erica! I am only 5 days post-op and have about 130lbs to lose too! The first couple of days after surgery are hard but just keep the positive thoughts flowing and know that in the end your journey it will all be worth it! Good luck with your surgery! Wish you a speedy recovery!

Good luck to you too! I just had mine on Dec 30th - so far so good. It's a learning curve - remember no GULPs of fluid!

Hi Erica! Having the lap band was the best thing I have ever done for myself. Good luck to you!

Hi Erica I was banded 12/29. I started at 311 lbs. To be approved by my insurance Co. I had to have at least 3 months supervised weight loss(WW), lost 42 lbs. Several other hoops to jump through for approval. I am so happy I did this. Best advice I could give you: after surgery start moving within 24 hers you'll recover much quicker. Remember you have to help your band it can only do so much. I would like to see 150# on the scale as my goal. I couldn't believe I did this to myself either. Good Luck Happy Banding Day and welcome to the family.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
