Nicki, I usually buy ground turkey or turkey burgers but I just found Purdue ground chicken and chicken patties. I tried them this time because they have no hormones and are cage free chickens! They were awesome! I can only eat half of one, but that leaves my husband to have 1 1/2 and he loves that!

Hi everyone- WID and down another 1.5 lbs, so slow and steady and in the right direction! But I was looking back on my weight loss history- and I was down to 202 last October. SO I don't think I can lose 24 lbs in 2 months, but who cares. My goal is to be below 200 lbs by the end of the year. I think that's totally doable- about 24 lbs in 16 or so weeks. And it will make me extra careful during the holidays, which was the start of my downfall last year.

sue- I will look for that, I think that might go down way better than hamburger!

Still tracking, still doing well, getting my haircut today, it's all good!

Hi All, I'm home, yay. Very tired but wanted to check in and say you guys are doing well!

I'm going to weigh on Monday ... Gives me a couple of days to get back on track, mostly with upping my Water intake and getting a little cardio in.

Will ttyl.

Finished up PT this week. Now I am on my own. They suggest going back to my normal exercise routine for the next four weeks before I hit the tennis courts and golf course. So that I am doing!

Headed off to St Augustine to do some volunteer work today for an Animal Rescue group I work with.

Great job Nicki!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi everyone! We got a kitten (well, a year old) yesterday- his name is Dave Meowthews. He's super cute, the kids love him, and he's very mellow! DH went to look at puppies yesterday, but didn't click with the breeder. So there's one he does like about 2 hours away, and maybe in a few months we'll have puppies to choose from (Anatolian Shepherds). DH surprised me with the cat thing, I love cats but they can make him wheezy, so we'd held off. But he picked out this one- Dave is a big grey tabby.

Anyway, did well with food. No zumba yesterday, as they were refinishing the floors at the Y, so I mowed the lawn and did a whole bunch of house cleaning. DD is moving out today, she did find a place, and it seems like a good situation. Hoping to keep moving down the scale!

LadyB- glad you're home! Now you can get back to normal- however normal that is, right? LOL

Sue- glad you're cleared! 4 weeks will fly by. Sounds like your surgery was a total success.

Everyone have a great day!

Nicki

Nicki, I had never heard of that bread so I looked it up! They are beautiful! I hope you live somewhere cool as they are so big and probably used to being outdoors. I am allergic to cats too al though I love them. We used to have them until I couldn't stand it anymore. So when the last one died at 18, that was it. Now just hypoallergenic dog!

It is hot here today, 94 now. So I did my 25 minute bike ride at 9 this morning. I will lift weights tonight.

Well I figured out how to get back here. So this is what is happening in Mankato, MN.

I had gotten down to 148 and got scared I was getting to small So I had 1cc taken out now I am back up 7 pounds not to woried about the gain. But not feeling the restriction I had a few weeks ago. But I am also not vomitting anymore. So all is good in MN.

I read all the post and glad to see all the new bandits who are doing great. It helps me stay in touch with just how far I have come 275 to todays 155 is a miricle in my books. I cry once in awhile when I look at myself in the mirror with or without clothes. I do not ever remember being this small.

I am doing great from the kidney cancer surgery and gearing up for a back surgery hopefully some time this month.

So keep on keeping on it all works off in time. Thanks for being here for me and I will get this figured out on sign in pretty soon.

Thanks Karen

Hi Karen! GOod to see you again. Back surgery? What for? LOL, I wish I were scared to be too small, I shot myself in the foot for almost a year and am still in the 220's. But oh well, that's one great thing about the band, you can always start again! Keep up with all of us, it does help!

Sue- yes, they are pretty, aren't they? We live in NC, so it's hot and humid. But there are breeders here, so I guess they do okay in the heat. They are originally from Turkey, so maybe used to the heat? I am a cat person, for sure. I like dogs okay, but LOVE cats, lol.

DD is out of the house. She got the last of her stuff today. DH is insisting on changing the locks- well, I am doing it as he is not at all handy. So I got the back door on just fine, then painted the front door again and let it dry and went to put on the knobs, and couldn't get it on. So I returned it, but they would have been different keys, so DH went and exchanged it for the same code, even though they're the re-keying kind, which I told him but he apparently didn't listen. So he brought the new one home, and I couldn't get one of the screws out, and neither could dh. SO he's at Lowe's returninig it again. I was hoping to be in bed by now, but oh well. I also cleaned dd's bathroom- it was super gross. Like, I worked on it for an hour and I'm not quite done. And it's like 4x4 feet. So much stuff to do, we'll be filling up our trash and taking tons of stuff to goodwill!! So the cleaning was my exercise. zumba tomorrow.

Chrissy, where are you? Nicole? hello???? Post, peeps!

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't posted. I have been in a regular routine back at the gym. I'm also logging my food every day. That surely dies help. I haven't seen any real change over the past month since I got back on track. Its also TTOTM, so hopefully in a couple of days I'll see some change. I want to lose these 18 pounds I gained back, but, if I stay a size 14...its better than a 26! I so glad we're posting again. I love hearing from all of you & it certainly does help to stay on track.

Karen! So glad you are doing well and found some time to log on. I'm sure you'll feel better after the back surgery and I will keep you in my prayers.

Chrissylu, good for you. I am going to start logging myself tomorrow. I have stayed the same weight for way too long now, even though I know it harder in the final stretch. I'm working out and slimming, but I think my small meals are more calories than I would care to admit!

Nicki, a kitty is a nice addition, so happy for you. And DD getting on her own feet is a big relief I am sure, and is always a good thing for the young adults too. You gotta grow up sometime and make your own path in life. So lots of good news on your front.

SueBee, that's great that you volunteer for an animal group. All of my pets are shelter animals ... Two dogs and a cat. They are the best, and keep us "in the moment."

I've recently been having some tonsil/throat issues (sore, kinda inflamed). I'm hoping it was from the smokiness in the casinos in Las Vegas where the conference was .. Or fall allergies... Or the dryness of the plane... Or maybe it was the couple of cocktails I had... Or maybe its a cold coming on. Sometimes having the band makes you suspect of so many things! I know I don't have GERD (at least I don't think so, and I'm only at 3.8 in 10 band), so I'm thinking I will make a regular doctor visit and not with my surgeon if it doesn't clear up in a few days,

Do any of you take acid-blockers or PPI's? My doc didn't say to take them, but I read online that a lot of people do ... Even if the've never had reflux. I may start a thread on this to ask others.

Happy Labor Day! I was busy at work, and it was good!

What a great site! I wish I had known about it prior to my March 2012 surgery! Such great information! I came on here looking for any info about plastic surgery after weight loss. Im down 95lbs and am sooo happy to be at 135lbs...but would be so much happier after a tummy tuck...I think! Anyone??

Welcome Eas! We're a friendly lot here. Congratulations on your great loss! I, too, think a Tummy Tuck would make all the difference for me at this point, but not eager to go under the knife!

There's some great info on this site under cosmetic and reconstructive surgery forum. Take a look there, too!

Hi everyone!

Chrissy- I too love everyone posting again! It helps me, it truly does.

LadyB- hopefully it's just a change in the weather or something easy to fix and not band related! I know DH gets all freaked out if I have any tummy issues.

Eas- I'd love a tummytuck, and as you can see from my user name 130 is my goal- I'd settle happily for 135, LOL! That'd be a 151 lb loss. Certainly possible. Lady B is right about the reconstructive surgery forum, that's where to look for good info or to post a thread.

I'm still tracking tracking tracking on MFP. WID tomorrow, I should see a couple lbs I hope. Slow and steady wins the race!

Hi everyone, a good WID, down another 2 lbs! And that was after a lot of sodium (soy sauce) with dinner yesterday :). I had a TOUGH workday yesterday, so I went home, ate dinner and vegged out. I was in bed by 9:30, probably asleep by 9:35, LOL.

Just wanted to post my success!

Everyone have a great day, and Just do it!

Nicki

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
