Hope everyone had a great weekend! I went to the pool to exercise both yesterday and today. Hard to do during the week!

Hi everyone!

Chrissy, it's definitely helping me! And since we're MFP "friends" I see you're logging- that is what keeps me on track! That, and no ice cream.

Sue- glad you got to the pool! I love Water aerobics and swimming, but my hair doesn't.

Ladybandito, where you at, girl? LOL

Having another on track day, logging, etc. Next thing to do is up the exercise. My job is exhausting (more mentally, cause I sit all day), and it's hard to get my rear in gear- and as much as I admire you, Chrissy, there is no way in heck I can get up at 4 am! But maybe 5, we'll have to see...gotta change stuff if you want results, right?

Everyone have a great day!

Nicki

I see you logging too JDI!! Its helping me as well! I've lost three pounds in the past week or so, since I've gotten back to a regular, vigorous exercise schedule and started logging my food again. And honestly...4AM sucks! But its the only time I can go and it really does help me get my day going. My 13 YO has been going with me. He's so excited about getting his own membership, that his enthusiasm makes me get up and JUST DO IT! He starts back to school tomorrow...so we shall see how long he lasts with the 4AM workout times. LOL. I read a couple of reports though, that regular exercise can really help kids with ADD to focus better. I am hoping they are right! Sue...I forgot to say "yay on the platforms!" :) At least I think it was Sue. oh my...i need to go back and read some of these posts. LOL. I hope everyone is doing well...keep it up everyone!

Thanks Chrissy and Nicki!

Great job both of you!

I am so excited to get back to doing real stuff, two more weeks! I just planned vacation for December and hope that I will really be able to enjoy it. A week cruise out of Miami (if anyone is interested it was really cheap) and then we are meeting the in-laws for a week in Ft. Lauderdale. Maybe I should have switched that around to have my own relaxation time!

Slowly working toward my retirement job. I am starting to work with my travel agent so i have something to do when i retire! So let me know if you ever need assistance!

Hope everyone has a great week!

checking in for the day! Sue, the travel agent gig sounds fun! I wish I could convince DH to go on a cruise. My parents are taking a Mediterranian cruise in September for 3 weeks. Sounds so fun!

Chrissy- yah, 4 am then school might be hard, but that is cool about exercise helping ADD- it kind of makes sense. And exercise is good for lots of things besides weight loss. Endorphins rock!

I have Zumba today, speaking of exercise. I really like going, it's such a good workout and the kids go with me to the Y- they even help them with their homework, which I love! OP food all planned and I'm logging away, right Chrissy!

Everyone have a great day and Just Do It!!!

Hello everyone. Just waking up here, and thinking that Chrissy has been at the gym since 3 hours ago. Sheesh! The early morning workouts are such a great way to start the day... When I was younger...much...I used to do a 5:30 am and I felt so awake for the rest of the day. Nowadays I seem to need every extra minute in the morning cuz what used to take 10 minutes now takes an hour to get "presentable" with hair and makeup, LOL.

SueBee, nice that retirement is close for you and you've found a fun and interesting way to continue work! I know many travel agents and they all love their jobs... Lots of travel perks. Where are you cruising to? Our next trip is to Mexico in the fall.. Already booked and paid, though, and one of the reasons I'm on a push to lose my last bit of weight (I want to feel relaxed on the beach),

Nicki, you've got it going on and it's so great that you and Chrissy are working together on MFP. Things like that and this forum makes it seem like we are all in the same room together!

I feel a great week continuing for all of us. My weigh-in is 161.

Xx

This was a quick decision to just do something since I have three weeks of vacation time to still use and it was cheap! We are going to Nassau, San Juan, St Thomas and Grand Turk for a week.

I don't retire for six years, but will do this to help out my friend, learn about the business and earn a little extra money!

Went to work today, hating that. Much nicer working from home!

Hi there! Ladybandito- good for you on your weigh in! Your trip sounds fun. It's funny what you say about taking longer to look presentable- my hair has gotten totally weird lately- curly where it didn't used to be, and just takes FOREVER to get looking decent!! Oh well.

Sue- but look at getting back to work as getting back to normal! Yay progress, right? Trying to look at the bright side :).

Chrissy, I too think of you when I get up and realize you've gotten 2 hours under your belt already! What time do you go to bed??? LOL

It will be a good day today! I go home early as DH has a doctor's appointment and I have to get the kids off the bus. Have a bunch of little chores to accomplish, and maybe even a weight workout in, we'll see. I wonder if netflix has workouts that are streaming? I'll have to check. Got Breakfast logged and will have an on plan day today!

Everyone have a great day!

Ladybandito...LOL! And actually yesterday...I skipped the gym. My Kiddo talked me into taking a "rest day". We were there, dark & early at 4:15 this morning though!! LOL. All of you all's trips (i know that is grammatically incorrect...sorry) sound so cool. I would love to take another one but looks like its going to be a while. The kid has to have braces. JDI...I'm in bed by 10p usually...so I only get about 5 hours sleep. I have to start going to bed earlier though. Its starting to wear on me. However....its working...slowly, but still working. Down 4 lbs since I started back on 8/1.

Hi everyone! Chrissy, a rest day is a good thing now and then. And 4 lbs in 2 weeks is great!

I had no movement on the scale today, which is a bummer but I'm dealing with it (and not by eating!). I have been on plan, so I know it will come. I'm going to look back on my weight loss I recorded last year and I'm pretty sure I'll see a pattern of the same weight for a couple weeks, then a nice drop. I lost 5 lbs last week, and I know I've been doing the right things. It will come! I just want to be back down to 212 and then less than that, LOL. It takes time, time, time. And I wasted a bunch, but that's Water under the bridge. I know next week I will show a loss!!

Plus, I think it's ttotm- (warning, tmi alert) I have an IUD so I don't usually get aunt flo, but still have the bloating, cravings, etc, which sucks. But I know it's another reason I'm not showing a loss, and it also sets me up for a bigger loss next week.

Well, we're all hanging in, that's the important thing!

Nicki, you and I are in the same boat. I actually had the scale go up a pound ... You know that's not right when I've been sticking so well to plan. But I do know that I ate some rather salty foods yesterday, so I'm thinking it will even out tomorrow ( it better!!) But I did even better today with eating.

I'm super sleepy for some reason tonight, got a lot going on this weekend so I guess I'm thinking about that...

So I will just say goodnight to all and wish you a great day tomorrow.

Hi there- yes, Lady, it stinks! And of course, today I step on the scale and see 229.5. So I know it's just "environmental," not me, LOL. It's a marathon, not a sprint. I TOTALLY wanted some ice cream last night but didn't do it, even though we have a bunch left. I will be successful!

I'm really tired, too- been getting plenty of sleep, not sure why. Probably if I stepped up the exercise I'd get more energy....

This weekend we're going to a watermelon seed spitting contest- yes, I live in the south, LOL. We are considering also getting a dog- some sort of big dog DH wants. Sigh. We'll see. I have made it perfectly clear that I'm not at all going to get up earlier than I already do to walk it, etc.

Everyone hang in there, it's Friday! LOL

Nicki, let me know if you are looking for a dog! I voluntary for an animal sanctuary! We actually just got some really nice dogs, an adorable black lab golden retriever mix. She is 17 weeks old. Where do you live?

I'm here, here, here! Busy busy weekend. Busy day at work!

Sue- DH has a particular breed in mind- can't remember right off, but we want a puppy with this breed, as it's very protective of the family and it's better if you have them from the beginning. When I remember, I'll post what it is :) I would love a black lab/retriever mix, I'll bet it's sweet as can be!

Hanging in there, eating right and logging it all. Hope to see a pound or two on Thursday. Did Zumba on Saturday. Today when i get home, DH and the kids will be at a martial arts thing, so I think I'm going to do some weights or something, I feel like I need to get more weight lifting in.

Everyone have a good day!!

Well, I have enjoyed eating pretty much anything I want for the past twelve weeks being a home body after surgery. I have seen the scale go up and down 3-5 pounds during that time and I have decided I better start paying attention since I am not working out yet other then the required physical therapy. I am ok with the scale now sitting at 170, but I don't want to see it go up any further!

I must say I catch myself saying 270 and it really freaks me out. I told my husband and he said you look great and remember it IS 170! Gotta love him!

Nicki, I am going to back off the ice cream a little and get more Water in.

Road my bike for the first time last night since surgery. Only went 1.5 miles, but was more concerned about getting on and off and not falling! Next week I will start on the elliptical! Can't wait!

Hope everyone has a great week.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
