Otaknam- what happened Thursday? Did they do an unfill? Are you able to keep stuff down yet? I'm thinking of you! Hope all is well!!!

Well I stopped into the office and was not able to get anything done. So from 11-9 to 11-18 present date I have gone from 216.5 to 202 lbs. Only able to keep H2O if I sip and I mean sip. Hopefully I will be able to find someone in office in morning.

As far as holidays I am making the big meal and I am not planning on having anything but maybe some greek yog. a few teaspoons will fill me to over load. I do not like getting sick so will play it safe. Hopefully will ge in and get 1/2 of what ever they put in out. I like the pounds down but the feeling I am having. Will let you know how the next trip to office works.

Thanks for caring........

Otaknam- that's scary! Too long to go before they fix the issue, hope you get some relief soon!

Rimini- welcome! We are a very welcoming bunch!

As for me, I'm on. The fence about my refill (ha!) on Wednesdy. I'm scheduled to go in at 1:00 which makes me nervous because I know if there's a problem I won't get back in until next Monday. He took out 1.2 cc which was too much. I'm hoping he puts 1 cc back in and it's just right... Just call me Goldilocks! As far as Thanksgiving, I guess I'm kind of lucky because it's not my favorite meal. Hopefully I'll behave!

Happy Monday everyone! I'm at 174.5 today. This is a huge milestone for me. I got down to 175 in 2000 due to a huge stress event, but I haven't been below that since probably my sophomore/junior year in college ('94/'95). And this time, instead of the weight going back up from the milestone, it will be going down!

Hello ladies!!

Ok, forgot to weigh in last Monday but remembered this am and I am happy to report I am down to 189.2. I have not seen this weight since my daughter was born and that was in 1990!

Is anyone else preparing food for Turkey Day that they know they can eat? We all should have a "go to" food for that day. I am having Thanksgiving at my house so that is a stressor in itself! But in addition to all of the goodies, I am making a veggie tray with low fat dip. I know I will snack on the broccoli with some dip.

What's your plan for that day? I plan on having what I want, IN MODERATION. And yes, I am sure that will include dessert.

We had a Thanksgiving Luncheon last Friday at work so that was a good test for me. I tried everything I wanted to try(except for the HOMEMADE dinner rolls......sigh) and ended up eating about half of what was on my plate. I still take too much food. But the turkey was iffy for me...even with gravy.

I did go in for a slight fill on Saturday. Only .25 put hopefully that puts me back into the green zone. It's hard once you have been there because you know how awesome it is and you want to get back there!

And Otaknam, PLEASE let us know you have gotten some relief....

Ok I feel better back down to 191.1, not the 189.9 2 weeks ago, but I deleted my Starbucks app yesterday and my daughter went grocery shopping with me yesterday. So all of that will help! Happy Monday!!

Today's weight 192 (no loss but it is ttotm).

Ladybandito, I can't believe I missed my appointment on Friday! That has never happened. I don't know where my head was. Due to the holidays I can't get in till December 14th! I'm still having the on/off very tight to completely loose days..

Nicole, the 5k was good. A little more running this time shaved off a couple minutes from the 1st 5k in Oct. I don't plan to do anymore 5k races until I can run the entire 3.11 so now I just practice practice practice lol

Hope everyone is doing well..

Hi everyone!

Nicole- okay, I’m dropping the ice cream, it’s really killing me weight wise, and mentally too. I’ve been doing so well, no way in h-e-double hockey sticks I’m going to gain more back! Sounds like Cookies are your kryptonite. So we’re human, so we’ll stumble- but we will still be successful! And we have all stuck together, haven’t we? And we are coming up on our year bandiversary!!! I guess I’m the “unofficial” leader- I just really appreciate everyone’s posts and know how much I need it to be successful myself, so it’s really selfish on my part J

Meredith! Where are you?? How are you??? I’m sure posting here is not a priority after the storm but I’m thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers!

Rkimom- we are glad to have you, insight is a wonderful thing! I had really logged faithfully, but since going on my ice cream jag that has fallen by the wayside- no way I want to log a zillion calories of crap! That is really interesting that Vitamin deficiencies caused so many issues? Do you think that was from being banded and eating differently?

Chrissy- wow, almost 100 lbs! It’s super that your doc listens to you. How was your 5k?? You’re right about having a lot to be thankful for!

Ladybandidto- good for you getting a fill. No kidding about the slippery slope- and I slid down a complete mountain!!! That’s my plan too, eat what I want, small portions and SMALL bites and lots of chewing, LOL.

NC2NJ- Happy Monday! Good for you for shaving off more time on your 5k. Why wait til you can run it all? But that's a great goal for sure!

Otaknam- I hope you get an unfill today and are able to eat! That’s scary, make sure you don’t get dehydrated!!! Maybe you could have some mashed potatoes and gravy- kind of a bummer to make all the meal then not get to eat any!

Amica-yah, that’s kind of close, but I know I would go for it rather than be too lose. And CONGRATULATIONS! On 174.5!! That is so awesome!!!

Val Ann- CONGRATULATIONS to you too!! That is so great!!! We are having a T-day potluck Wednesday- I am bringing my super yummy homemade rolls, of which I will have NONE. I think turkey will be iffy for me too, luckily I like dark meat!

So there’s a thread in the fitness area about this carb cycling. I bought the book, we’ll see. It should come later this week. It sounds good- alternating low and high carb days, having one cheat day but you can only cheat at Breakfast or lunch and only go over a max 1000 calories. No carbs in the PM. I’m going to read through it and get some ideas to jumpstart my loss again. Of course, not eating through tubs of ice cream will probably help too. I’m sick, have a cold and my nose is completely stuffed up and my glands are all swollen. Ick. Oh well, I can power through.

Everyone have a great day,

Nicki

Happy Monday everyone! I'm holding @ 168...just 6 more stubborn pounds to my primary goal of 100 lbs. Survived the 5k yesterday...ran about 1/2 of it...shaved about 7 minutes off last year's time. Not worried about Thanksgiving. I know what I can & cannot eat.plus my mom had gastric bypass a couple of years ago so she knows what to make..lol. I will not deny myself of a taste of something I really want though.

My Vitamin issues were directly related to the band. Guess I wasn't listening when that part of the prep class went on...typical for me, was probably thinking about, oh, I don't know, let me guess....FOOD!

Still no regrets for having surgery though.

Hi everyone! Sorry to be missing yesterday, with a short week work was crazy! Promises to be crazy today too. We're having our T-day potluck, and I brought homemade dinner rolls. Not tempted to eat them, even though they're awesome, because they'd be a for-sure stuck :). I'll have some turkey and gravy, veggies, we'll see what else, but small amounts. Last night I made rolls for our dinner Thursday, and tonight I'll make the pumpkin pie (which I hate, LOL).

Exercise is down this week, I am fighting off a major cold, my neck is all swollen (glands) and my nose is killing me! Can't really breathe either, it's super fun.

Chrissy- I can't believe you're so close to having lost 100 lbs! That is awesome! And congratulations on the faster 5k time. I need to sign up for one to do, that would be fun.

Rkimom, I'm glad you're doing better nutrient wise! I worry sometimes because I get in such a rut eating the same things. I do take all my Vitamins faithfully. What is your exercise routine>

Everyone check in, how are we all doing? I think I'm going to go for a walk after dinner tomorrow, something I've avoided for most of my life, LOL.

Nicki

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
