We should meet some where there is a warm beach & hit the mall together to support each other in buying our 1st skinny bathing suit!! My last suit buying experiment did not end well. Last spring we went on a cruise so even though I never wear a bathing suit I had to have one for snorkeling. Went every where & nothing fit right then I found suits with bras in them @ LB. tried it on did the forward jiggle test, nothing fell out. Did the jumping up & down, nothing fell out so I bought it. Well on the ship by the pool I laid back in a lounge chair & the girls slid back towards my chin & fully exposed out of the snazzy bra!! Let's just say I wore a tank top the rest of the cruise & NEVER lounged back again!!

I am glad to see everyone doing so well.

Nicole- I know what you mean about bathing suits! Ever since I had my kids almost three years ago, I can't get any that fit right and make me look like I am not preggo :(

I live in Louisville, KY. I have hit a plateu and I am frustrated big time. I am stuck at 46lbs lost. I am so close to 50lbs lost, I can taste it! I have been stuck for almost two weeks. I am glad I can come on here and get some inspiration from you ladies! My third fill went well and I go for my fourth fill in two weeks, I can't wait!

Hi All! I"m in NC, I think a couple of us are?

Nicole- I'm proud of you too. Good for you for having a breakdown without stress eating! They're going to happen, so way to go handling it well! That was a funny story about your bathing suit :)

N2animals- you mean you went from 5 cc’s to 7 cc’s so your fill was 2 cc’s, right? I think 5 lbs in 6 weeks is still great- almost 1 lb a week!!

Mags- I think joining a gym with your family is a great idea! If they’re going you’ll feel “peer pressure” to go to, LOL. I know when I have DH’s support it way easier to be successful.

ValAnn- it is so different for all of us, isn’t it? I think that’s one of the really great things about the lapband, is you can adjust it to each person.

Amica- I think my biggest thing is just not knowing how I’m going to be after a fill, ya know? Like, I still eat way too fast! And I eat too big of bites, I’m sure. I am much better about the not drinking before and after I eat. Small steps!

Erica- your plateau is going to break! Just keep doing the best you can, it will happen!! My 3rd fill is on Monday, and I can't wait!

Another good workout yesterday. Good and sweaty! I know it’s been one of the things that has helped me along. I can’t wait until I get to the 50 lb mark.

Nicole, we're all here for you. I had some issues for a few years with hubby/stepdaughter who came with lots of emotional baggage and me being the last person she wanted to see when she woke up in the morning. I ate and even started drinking to numb the pain.{where I put on all this weight baggage}.Finally after a few years and intervention, things are much better. Never thought I would come out alive and not become an alcoholic too as well as being a foodaholic.Didn't meant to share this here, but you're not alone when it comes to family dynamic. We all have it one time or another. Unfortunately, you have now.

My favorite saying is, "it could always be worse", although there have been times when I looked up to the skies and whispered, "it could always be better, damn it". At least you have one less thing to be unhappy about, you are losing weight and feeling good about yourself. Hang in there and again, know we're all here for you. You're awesome!!!

Oh yeah, I'm in New Jersey, at the Jersey Shore. Not THE Jersey Shore with Snookie and the Situation. I'm north of them between Asbury Park, Bruce Springsteen's home away from home back in the day and Monmouth Racetrack, Oceanport.

I'm going for my 2nd fill this afternoon. Only have 2.5 cc's "under my belt". I have to ask him today what size band I have. I've been getting stuck and having some PB's lately. Think it's the choice of food and not chewing properly. Taking big forkfuls {bad habit} but chewing it as best I can. WRONG!

Nicole, I too enjoyed your bathing suit story. I use to get my suits online. They had great bathing suits, great designs, styles and good quality. I never cared for the suits in thes stores, even LB, for me. We went on my first cruise 2 weeks before surgery and I wore a bathing suit and took a picture of myself in the stateroom mirrow w/o DH there. I actually blew it up and printed it out and it sits hidden on my desk behind papers for only me to see. Ugh!

I'll put the website out there for all as summer is coming and no matter what our weight, it's nice to have a nice bathing suit that fits.

I like Nicole's idea of meeting at a beach! LOL! "The winter bandster girls get their summer on!!" eh...a girl can dream, right? I'm so proud of all of us too. I know some, if not all, of us are going through things that aren't about "The Band" and that we don't necessarily talk about here. However, those things do affect so much: how we see ourselves, whether or not we stress or emotional-eat, if we're getting the support we need. I'm so glad this forum is here because, as other have said, so many times, things that I'm thinking or feeling are already being expressed here.

Meredith...I've been having more stuck & PB issues as well. I think I'm taking to large a bite or not chewing properly. Could just be that chicken is a no-no from now on. LOL. oh and BTW, Nashville, TN here. :)

Just came back from having my second fill. Also found out I have a 12cc band or as the dr. referred to the size initially, a "regular size" one. I just got 1cc today so now I'm up to 3.5cc's. Like it's been said before on here, each doctor has different ways of treating us. Most of you seem to be on your 3rd fill and have a good 5+cc's in your band. Oh well, I am doing well so far, I'm not complaining. It's still a good thing. It was quick and so easy with a little pinch and he was right in!

I tried on a bunch of smaller clothes in my closet and most of them fit!! Good thing I have several sizes to go through in there, LOL.

Meredith, glad your fill went well- my 3rd is on Monday. Right now I have 7 cc's in a 14 cc band- not feeling a lot of restriction for sure.

Another good workout last night! Tonight DH and I are going out to eat- and all I'm worried about is how can I get my workout in!

JDI130! That's awesome! I had a similar experience last night. I had to run to Walmart for a couple of items and while there I thought...I'm by myself. I think I'll try on a pair of jeans real quick, just to see where I am pants-size-wise. I was a 24-26 (depending on the item of clothing) when I started this journey. I've lost 43 lbs so I figured I'd lost about 2 sizes. well... I picked up a 22...tried them on and though I could have worn them, they were too big. I didn't have time to try on a 20 but I'm sure they would have fit just fine! And good deal on the workout. Yay!!

Yay for a good fill Meredith. I'm still praying for someone to cancel w/my dr between now and Wednesday so I can get mine moved up.

Peeps...say a prayer for me this weekend. Feeling 'ugh' today with digestive issues and TTOTM..but I have a 5k tomorrow morning and a 2 mile walk for March of Dimes on Sunday. I'm going to be one tired chica come Monday morning. LOL. Have a great weekend everyone!

ChrissyLu- you'll do great! I hope you wake up ready to go and energized.

I'm aiming for a 5 k in September that my office is doing in honor of 9/11.

My parents live near the beach in NC, so this year hopefully I won't be wearing cutoff sweats to the beach!!!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
